To be fair, I interpreted it completely different from the previous posters.
Renegotiating a deal like this will take years and won't happen over night. Have some patience.
They wouldn't be talking of new training grounds if they were about to do a runner.

I don't know why you think that it is value of the land that is is holding things up... The original deal brokered by the old board included purchasing the land that the stadium would sit on. The agreed price was £1.1m per acre. That was a contractually agreed price and to my knowledge cannot be fluctuated either way based upon market value. So there's some other hold up on the commercial side. I thought NH plan revolved around a 125 lease of the land, we possibly agreed the price to reflect the lease costs/stadium naming rights but I can't see we agreed a value if the club wanted to buy the land, as that was never part of NH original plan. I can't understand why SH is suggesting the pp expires in August when it's actually January, and what's all the nonsense about Rovers being a PLC with hundreds of thousands of shareholders when we're only a LTD company with a few hundred shareholders, does he have a clue what's going on at the club, or even back in Jordan. The final insult is to say fans shouldn't ask for daily updates, when we haven't had one single update for months. As far as the training pitches for f sake it's Coalpit Health youth club not some decent senior club, give them a £1,000 pay off and they'll find a new game for next weekend.

Perhaps he was referring to Dwane Sports - who will no doubt own the stadium and any income filtered down to the club for operational purposes? Isn't there some form of Covenant on the land following the sale to UWE? Perhaps this is a stopping point? Anyhow, August it is!

Dwane Sports are wholely owned by the 4 Al-Q's, we've not been informed of any convenants but as I said they are hardly going to turn down cash to play elsewhere for this season.

People do seem to jump to the conclusion that the deal issues are about money ,be it £1m or £5m . It may well be other things like what facilities the students get to use ,parking availability ,sponsorship or some way the uwe gets a long term benefit from the stadium.
Were you there when I discussed this with SH? Glad to hear you are so pivotal in the finances at BRFC. If its £1m they are being arses ,the land value will go up by that amount in a couple of years if the increases of the last 30 years continue. Its fair to say that every six monthly meeting would have seen the uwe being able to ask for more for the land. If its a million quid....have a whip around the fans will raise that in no time if it means a stadium will happen this year.

What's all the nonsense about Rovers being a PLC with hundreds of thousands of shareholders when we're only a LTD company with a few hundred shareholders, does he have a clue what's going on at the club, or even back in Jordan. As far as the training pitches for f sake it's Coalpit Health youth club not some decent senior club, give them a £1,000 pay off and they'll find a new game for next weekend. Think he said private ltd company which we are, the hundreds of thousands of share holders was referring to the fans. The point he was making is that this is a deal between a private business and a large institution and that these transactions have to be negotiated in private. It is impossible (and would be hugely unprofessional) to give detailed public updates until a deal is agreed. The final insult? Do you remember how things were under the last regime? As for the training ground comment, I am glad we are respecting the needs of the existing users of the facilities, a little good will goes a long way. They took over the club less than a year ago, some people being on their backs over the time taken since then to renegotiate of a £40m project that will likely mark one of the single biggest points in our 133 year history is embarrassing but sadly predictable.

What we forget though is that there were years of rumours on the Mem and the emergence of the UWE plans before it was actually announced - it probably took Higgs years to get to what we're trying to do again now largely from scratch, in the shortest timeframe possible. thus why I was encouraged and not discouraged by Hamers comments because frankly it explains a lot and puts to bed the bullshut which people come up with on here.

Lets be honest no-one knows what the outstanding legal issues are. And both parties pay a lot of money for legal experts to find cracks holes and avoid poor deals to safeguard their clients. Inevitably someone wants the best outcome . sadly: in all legal matters or disputes this can drag on and on. This is why we need a 'deadline date' to put pressure on and determine who's committed. It works well with unions and government: breaking peace deals like the good Friday agreement and exchanging a signed contract for a 'start time'.
I do understand that this is a major major project. However: 18 months from the new board talks and 5-6 years from planning application is enough imo. We need a cut off point and we need real pressure on decision making. The rest to me is theory and talk. I am pleased SH suggested August as an aim and not a lot else... .

As far as a PLC being the same as a private Ltd co if Hamer doesn't know the difference it's a bit of a worry. He even referred to Chelsea going bankrupt but they never done bust as far as I can see.

Talk is cheap. Actions always speak louder than words, all of the actions over the last 6 months, starting with the guys we appointed to deliver the project leaving, radio silence since and now this evasive interview tell us what is really going on. UWE is probably dead and that might actually mean that the grand plans and enthusiasm of our new owners could also be dying too. Brace yourself folks for the next downturn on the Rollercoaster that is supporting Bristol Rovers! What complete bollox! This club has nothing of any value apart from a sh**ty ground and our very large fanbase. The new owners are trying to do something that no other board have been able to do during our clubs history, and that's build us a new stadium and take us to highs that we've never been to before. But due to them not being able to do this in under a year of there ownership, people believe that they are no longer interested and now want to leg it - Have word with yourself!

I really don't understand what the issue is with the fans over UWE. Did anyone really believe there was a sustainable business plan to run the stadium and club if the stadium had been built during the previous owners tenure? Does anyone really think that those same people actually calculated an ROI, and a timeline? Does anyone think that a cash flow forecast had been made, working capital requirement calculated and provision made? If you accept that most likely none of this was in place, that perhaps the whole basis of the deal with UWE (as negotiated previously) undermined that whole concept of a positive outcome, is it not surprising that the new owners are starting from scratch. All power to them. If they don't build it I would think its because the returns and cash flows make it untenable. Quite right to. I would imagine they are here because they believe they can achieve this, somewhere. In which case lets sit back and let them run the business properly. It makes a change from bravado and false swagger. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/6053/steve-hamer-rad-bris-project?page=2#ixzz4WVcscRkd

Sounds like they want to build a stadium on a cheap piece of land rather than pay market rate for one. In Bristol?! Good luck with that!

It's got to the stage I don't believe a word Hamer says. He's either senile or he thinks the fans are. He just oozes smugness.
