some of the WUMs on here could learn a thing or two from Mr Luke Williams I think. Nice try Lukey Luke Williams: Charlie Colkett "couldn't care any less about Bristol Rovers think"
Any suggestion that Charlie Colkett could struggle against potential Bristol Rovers boo-boys is nonsense as far as his head coach, Luke Williams, is concerned. Colkett, 20, was briefly on loan at Bristol Rovers earlier on this season and scored three goals in 17 games in all competitions for the club in what was his first foray into the Football League since joining Chelsea in 2007. He was recalled by his parent club in early January and less than a week later he signed for Swindon on loan until the end of the season. Swindon and Bristol Rovers, two West County rivals, meet at the Memorial Stadium on Saturday and Colkett could be subject to a hostile reception from the Gas, but Town head coach Williams rubbished any suggestion that he could be daunted by getting booed by the home support. " I don't think he could care any less, to be honest. I don't think any of us could care any less of what Bristol Rovers think, not one bit," Williams said. "It certainly won't affect Charlie. I mean, the boy's been training with the likes of John Terry and God knows who else - the last thing on his mind is what Bristol Rovers think, to be honest. " Playing in front of 14,000 at Bolton (January 14) is a far more challenging affair than playing against Bristol Rovers, with all due respect to Bristol Rovers, which is a club that I know, I played there as a young boy and it's a great club without any shadow (of a doubt). "But Charlie is mentally strong to completely focus on his own performance and it really won't be an issue." Loanee Colkett has only featured twice for the Robins so far but he has immediately made a positive impact on Swindon's fans and coaching staff. On his debut, against Bolton, he assisted an 89th-minute winner and on his home bow, last Saturday, he was awarded the man-of-the-match award by the sponsors. Williams is pleased to have youngster Colkett among his ranks and explained how his loan at Bristol Rovers came to and end which allowed him to move across the M4 to the County Ground. " I have spoken to Charlie and Charlie was on the bench for Bristol Rovers when they played against us, he went back to Chelsea and said 'you've sent me to the wrong club because the other team have all the ball'. "I think, speaking to people at Bristol Rovers, they were obviously very impressed with Charlie but felt they needed somebody in midfield that would run beyond the front players more often than Charlie - he likes to recieve the ball to his feet. "I think that was probably the reason why they felt they could free up a place in the squad to bring in a player more suitable for what they desire, of course that left an opportunity for us to bring him in." Anybody dare to guess the team this weekend? It is almost impossible. I fear that we could go back to a 3-5-2 at home if Bodin is out, as much as I rate him i don't think I would be brave enough to throw Broom in yet. I think one of Partington or Burn will start. Don't think the loanee from Stoke will start, I wouldn't be surprised if he is used more as back up to be honest a la McBurnie last season. DC seems to favour/trust his permanent players over loanees. Will Harrison be back as wasn't even on the bench last week? After Gaffney's performance last week, I hope he is. I disagree with you I think Sweeney will definitely start as he is left-footed (so Sweeney with one other in the middle).

Playing in front of 11k in a packed small ground is far more challenging than playing in front of 14k in a soulless bowl Swindon fans worried about complacency but you can guarantee he'll be absolute desperate to win this one. He's obviously got a major bee in his bonnet about getting dumped by us as a kiddy. Still, he went on to play for the likes of Ashford Town and Tonbridge Wells so he shouldn't let it get to him so much.

A good observation from Swindon's manager - that was what frustrated me about Colkett - he was a bit of a safe player.

Lukey doth protest too much, methinks. Anyway, can't see Charlie getting anything other than a decent reception.

Have to question if he is handling these young Chelsea players correctly.

If I were CC I'd be watered off my coach had even brought it up. Bizarre. I think based on the way the answer was structured that he was asked about it rather than just bringing it up himself. If the interviewer was after a bite, then fair play to him, he got what he wanted. Still, as I said when he signed for Swindon, I hope CC gets a good reaction. He never did anything to upset me. UTG!

I did hear that young Charlie refused to board the coach and ran back to Stamford Bridge that very night.Seems ligit as he had come on with 30 minutes to go and helped turn the game on its head. 100% Charlie will get a good reception - until he scores.

Exactly. I think he has been stating 'alternative facts' about what Charlie said after the Swindon game.

What a load of bollocks. I think most of us are thankful for the contribution Charlie made and will give him a good reception. He was never our player and didn't quite fit with what DC is building. No hard feelings and move on.
If this is an attempt at mind games this has backfired. We were already wound up by their money grabbing owner and now we are being called a long ball team who play in a stadium which isn't challenging to play at by their Manager (first team coach, Sherwood's bitch or whatever he is).
Put this on the changing room wall and we won't need a team talk.

If you're not important or talented enough to get talked about then make a prat of yourself to get talked about instead. Oh dear.

Charlie did nothing wrong for us to give him bad reception, Lee Power however is a different person, if he turns up we should make sure he gets the welcome he deserves and keep reminding him throughout the game what a w*****r he truly is.
