How were the stewards to blame? Some people stood up all the match against the rules. In the second half some idiots stood provocatively in the aisle. The stewards came down and calmly managed to get most of them to sit down but a stubborn few refused. When they'd finally had enough of persuasion they tried to remove one idiot and other idiots joined in against the stewards. In my opinion the Rovers "fans" were looking for trouble and were very happy to have provoked a fight. Why didn't they move the nets to create more space? That way if people still refuse to sit, they have a better argument. Also allows people to move if they feel the need. These problems are often avoidable and the stewards/police seem to enjoy a bit of aggro now and again I'm certain.

Don't agree with the stewards thinking they're bouncers and they were pricks today but why do we seem to have trouble finding a seat when there are plenty of empty ones around? Some gas women in front of me was screaming at the gas stood up in aisle as she couldn't see,and one young bloke told her to F off and then her husband got shirty so there could've been a fight between ourselves What the f**k would we do if we were in the premier where you have to sit where your tkt says

Remember being in the Arsenal end on a few occasions where there has been 5/6 thousand and every single one is stood up the entire game. Also England away games too. I can only think of a few Rovers games where this has happened. Lincoln in the Play Offs spring to mind. We couldn't even get to our 'allocated' seats and there were loads of people almost doubled up at each seat! Luckily celebrating the early goal managed to spread everyone out a little!

Similar experiences. The stewarding at bigger grounds has been more accomplished-if that is the correct term? I guess it makes sense since they deal with the same issues more often in greater numbers.

I bought five tickets on the day, with cash, definitely more there than given out. But hats off to a little tax dodge👏

But hats off to a little tax dodge👏 Yeah same here, loads in the queue as well, same everywhere though, there have been plenty of times I've been at a game and the attendance has been announced and I've thought really? But in the lower leagues money is tight and gate receipts make up the bulk of income unlike in the Premiershite.

Likewise, but in the PL at least they are standing in their allocated seat, not just anywhere.

There were a lot of very angry fans yesterday. Full on fighting with stewards and even police is a very rare thing these days and is very unlikely without provocation.
After the game a large mob of our fans tried to get back into the stand with the clear intention of getting to the stewards, the police formed a line in between and fans were so angry that they were fighting with the police.
I don't know exactly what went on to cause this mayhem as we were not in the block adjoining the netting where the stewards were but I think it is ridiculous to have a system of unreserved seating and then try and cram everyone into a small space. People were unable to see properly in some areas, were probably met with aggressive stewards and it escalated from there. All easily avoidable if Vale had allowed us more space in a stand that holds 4,000 with only away fans in it.
Similar to the ridiculous situation at Birmingham a few years ago idiotic decision making by the home club combined with jobs worth enforcers who aren't able or allowed to make decisions caused problems that were so easily avoidable if common sense prevailed!

Similar to the ridiculous situation at Birmingham a few years ago idiotic decision making by the home club combined with jobs worth enforcers who aren't able or allowed to make decisions caused problems that were so easily avoidable if common sense prevailed! Not there yesterday but in general I agree re netting and cordoning off stands. 765 fans in a 4,500 seat stand should simply never be a problem. never. simple. Plus no history between the sides, not a local rivallry, not fans sharing a stand. 19,000 seater stadium with 4,600 people in it. I understand that in terms of tidying up, and stewarding, that allocating just some of the stand is good for PV but come on, use some common sense, and also don't forget that circa £15,000 has been spent by those fans - they haven't got in for free. They are paying to watch football in the best possible position they can. Why put the cordon in one corner? Most football fans prefer to sit behind a goal.
