I'm not defending the steward but whoever the twat that was that punched him should be banned. |

From watching that it does seem that if they could have afforded us a bit more space that wouldn't have happened in the first place. Poor planning by vale a flashpoint waiting to happen.

Clubs never learn. See it loads - Whenever the stewards have an air of superiority, are aggressive and don't cooperate then trouble happens. Such an easy situation to avoid there too, probably bouncers employed as stewards in the day like others have said.

It seems we were (as a club) totally unwelcome up there.
Our team and management received no complimentary tickets for family at all. We give out 35 per game.
No hot drinks or kettle provided for the players before the game and at half time.
5 programmes to share among those on the team coach. Rovers provide 30-35 per match.
Someone said earlier that looking at the trouble from a different angle a fan hit the steward first. Always one isn't there. Looking at it from the Vale end you can see the steward swing a punch as soon as he got close enough.
Just for the record, a steward head butted one of our female fans, another lady was thrown out, I don't know why, but she had two little kids in the ground and the stewards wouldn't let her get them. Another lady was almost impaled on a metal gate, and was taken to hospital as they thought she had fractured ribs. A lad was thrown out first half and got a right kicking from the stewards as they threw him our.
As for the police, one whom I have the number and photo of knocked over a guy in his 60's and didn't give a crap even though the fan was a disabled guy. Another elderly fan was pepper sprayed (must have been in his 70's) and collapsed immediately. He was standing near the exit wall to avoid trouble. One copper was spraying the stuff about like a ref with his shaving cream on heat.
Two security staff who work at trashcan gate, but are gasheads , were ejected at the start of the game for we know not what.
All this was bang out of order. The police were almost next to the steward when he started lashing out, but did absolutely nothing.
It just built up and built up, and it was always likely to go off. And eventually it did. I asked to be shown to the officer in charge of the match so I could be a witness to the unprovoked assault on the guy knocked down, but was basically told to f..k off or I would be nicked. I then asked a mate to video me when I asked again to show I was asking in a civilised manner, the cop realised it was being videoed and just walked away.
Sh*t club, sh*support, and I hope they go down.

You need to contact the police there, and speak with their professional standards department and make an official complaint, otherwise it will carry on for other fans, trouble is they treat everybody as yobs, the steward who continued punching was hardly acting in self- defence. Fair enough if you have seen it with your own eyes, but unless you've seen another video, there is no evidence on either of the two posted here that that steward was punched before he let loose with a volley of punches before being pulled away by the special. Two other stewards can also be seen being pulled back by the police in the long range video. A google search reveals plenty of other instances where Port Vale stewards have taken things much too far in recent years. |
