Pity the "family" didn't decide they didn't want to pay for a stadium before they bought the club. A piece of land with pp and infrastructure in place is not going to be cheap. No one can blame uwe for wanting market value for the land.

The FACT we have not been told the deal is off ,means the deal is not off at this point. The FACT we have been told all the finances are in place ,means the latest we have is that the money is there. The FACT the stadium build has not started yet means there is still some unfinished business. MAYBE,that is outside companies providing quotes for the work.To show the finances raised are enough to complete the project. MAYBE, they are waiting for the railway line improvements to be completed or the park and ride/metro bus route. MAYBE,there are other projects being proposed to run alongside the stadium project but essential in the long term financial health of the stadium complex ?

We will get the same with any other piece of land with the added hassle of having to obtain planning and provide the transport infrastructure.

This piece of land is right in the university complex not some random field they own in the countryside. The use of the land needs to be of long term benefit to the university. Saying its just commercial land doesn't wash. UWE are not going to get much out of having students working part time at a Tesco or ikea . The use of the land is far more complex than just its current value as a piece of real estate. The justification of the sale of the land will be based upon what value it brings to the education system the uni provides. The uwe has to run long term as a sustainable business and one off never to be repeated income bonuses for the stadium site are not long term thinking. There is a reason why the UWE want a large football stadium on their complex

We will get the same with any other piece of land with the added hassle of having to obtain planning and provide the transport infrastructure. In many cases this would be true. However. This piece of land is right in the university complex not some random field they own in the countryside. So it probably has a decent value as development/residential land The use of the land needs to be of long term benefit to the university. Not sure that's true, it could be sold for short term financial gain. Saying its just commercial land doesn't wash. It's commercial/residential development land if UWE decide to sell it. UWE are not going to get much out of having students working part time at a Tesco or ikea . Not sure what they'll gain from the UWE if it can't be used as an athletics/multi sports stadium? The use of the land is far more complex than just its current value as a piece of real estate. If it's surplus to UWE requirement it won't be? The justification of the sale of the land will be based upon what value it brings to the education system the uni provides. Alternatively it could be what value it sells for which can then be spent at further developments at the UWE? The uwe has to run long term as a sustainable business and one off never to be repeated income bonuses for the stadium site are not long term thinking. Doesn't that imply selling to the ALQ's at a knock price is a complete non starter? There is a reason why the UWE want a large football stadium on their complex If it's owned and named by Dwane Sports can you name one?
You sense the UWE saw the stadium as a nice money earner with NH prepared to give future income streams away in order to get the UWE built/ the Mem sold, now the ALQ's want to pay back the Β£30m+ loans from the income streams it's no longer an attractive proposition to the UWE

So much guessing and double guessing going on! No one on here knows, only those who need to do - we will find out in due course when the time is right. UTG How do you know that nobody knows? You're just guessing about who's guessing. I don't think it wise to guess about who knows who's guessing and who guesses who knows. Vivid memories why I stopped posting here. Stunned at the speculation, presumption and assumption. Think someone is missing the inner circle of the inner circle. Sheesh

I think we ought to lock any UWE thread until there is an official announcement, because all of the guessing , opinions and theories do your head in. Trouble is if it's on here I can't bloody help but have a look at every new post and getting all excited thinking "this is the one" and usually a load of old bollocks just like this oneπ‘π

No doubt other threads will keep popping up and adding to the frustration. People just need to sit tight we are in good hands and in my opinion we are very lucky to have Wael & co on board. I'm feeling very positive that we are moving in the direction UTG!

What a load of rubbish you just spouted Why, apart from money for the land what's now in the deal for the UWE? Well, there are a number of potential pluses for UWE. Teaching space, occasional use of the stadium for student fixtures. Opportunities for business, media, sports etc students, to have direct experience of their chosen field in a real world commercial environment. The unique selling point of being the only university in the UK, with a professional football club and its stadium on site. And a lot of money.
