What about Tory voters who actually earned their millions, employ hundreds, pay loads of tax via personal or businesses etc, etc. I guess they aren't real, ordinary people.
or the hypocrites in the Labour party, who are against private/grammar schools, but send their kids to them anyway, of course Labour now have a man of principle in charge after all, he left his wife over disagreeing with sending his son to private school, because he is a man of the people
Or the Tories with their money and property that was handed down to them in inheritance and look down on people as they used to chase Deer and Foxes through the village. Thankfully it is still illegal for now. The Tory who thought a referendum on, in or out of Europe was a good idea, look at the current state of the country, it's a mess and all led by the Tories. Inherited wealth like Tony Benn possessed you mean? Which Hilary Benn then inherited and made the most of Inheritance Tax exemptions to pay ad little as possible. That sort of inherited wealth? Property that was handed down to Tony Benn who went to court to stop ramblers following a public right of way across his land? That the sort of "Tory" you're talking about? Sure Tony Benn didn't take up his title but he didn't give up the hereditary income that went with it. He never mentioned that part. Because he was a hypocrite. Just like Hilary is now.

Dislike opposition do we? I enjoy opposition actually but when I find it offensive I leave it alone. If we were in a pub (or Coles carpark) this would escalate. On a footy forum I'll just leave the conversation because some of you lot thrive off the response that you get. Fair play if that's what makes you happy.

Escalate to the conclusion of the difference of opinion. I wouldn't be prepared to let someone degrade the Queen without defending her.

That's a bit rich coming from a poster who deliberately puts stuff on here designed to provoke.

I can assure you that degradation is not on the agenda. But a full democracy without a non British feudal monarchy most certainly is. A proper democratic republic

That particular war has already been fought too. In terms of tourism alone, the Royal Family bring an awful lot to this country. The Royals are popular around the globe.

There is no evidence that the multiple attractions of this country would be dramatically affected by the removal of a feudal monarchy

Endorsements, awards, charities? Military. Head of state for Commonwealth countries? History itself? Our country's influence is affected by the Royal Family.

The national anthem does not affect tourism nor our economic outlook Most, if not all, tourists would not be able to identify the Crest. In fact the majority of Brits could not Buildings and estates would remain as part of the National Trust The costs savings would replace item 4 The military is not dependent on the Monarchy, but serves the people, and is funded by the people Any alliance of countries does not need a monarchy to head it up History would not change because of a change to our constitution

I was responding to Somerset's idiotic generalisation about who owns land and who doesn't and who inherits wealth and who doesn't. I've given the evidence that shows that that is not a party political driver.

There are a lot of strong views expressed here and I really hate to moderate non Rovers chat, but can we perhaps get back to rational debate and not petty name calling.
