Hope we can score before then!!!!!!! Ran the line at their old Springfield Park ground once in an FA Cup quarter final v Leeds.Saw the floodlights( pre Sat Nav) which navigated me from afar only to end up at Wigan's Rugby League stadium!!!!

Talking of Exeter, they have picked up of late wheras Muff like us are on a losing non scoring streak.Exeter were at home to Burton last game and so few visiting fans, the away end was almost empty. Visited Exeter's excellent training set up and they really involve the community there.

Beer Albion v Elmore. Most picturesque ground anywhere.Superb catering facilities, new clubhouse, match programme and free raffle ticket.£3 and that includes seated accommodation.Richard Walker always in attendance.Lives locally but still has his Brummy accent.K.O 3 pm but down the road in a Cup game Lyme Regis v Colyton ,K.O 2 pm Sunday.Superb catering facilities and covered seated accom there too. They say Lyme's pitch is too small but as it's on the edge of a cliff they can't extend!!!!

View AttachmentTo those who rarely go further north than Yate,'Paddock' is/was a very common term in the Midlands at grounds for the area where terracing was infront of a seated area.Another idiosyncrasy is the option that is Half way line flags.Don't think any clubs have 'em now but they were always optional.Sidmouth Town still have 'em down here. I never knew that half way line flags were optional. Out of interest, did you ever go to the old Lympstone ground?(I think they may have had 2 different pitches)My mate played in goal for them many moons ago and told me they had a tree on the edge of the pitch with the touchline going around it! Would love this to be true but he may have been pulling my waterer! Can find no evidence of your tree which would have been deemed dangerous but here is a pic of LYM PSTONE FC.

Once refereed at the Michelin Ground in Stoke and a half way line flag was actually on the touchline.Pointed it out and was told no-one else had ever noticed it!!!

Description:Stoke City FC played at the Victoria Ground for 119 years, until May 1997. This is the view from the Boothen End towards the Stoke End of the ground. The Stoke End was open until a stand was built in 1979. Stoke market clock tower can be seen beyond the highest part of the terraces. The Main Stand (or Boothen Stand) is to the left and the Butler Street Stand to the right. A standing area at the front of the Boothen Stand was called The PADDOCK. Spent many happy hours in the Paddock at Stoke's Old Victoria Ground.Jimmy Greenhof,Alan Hudson ,John Ritchie, George Eastham et all.Once reffed a Central League game there and the Stoke skipper was none other than Paul Randall but don't think he ever settled in the illustrious Potteries. Yes,to some a paddock and to others,enclosure.Paddock/Kop had more northern connotations.

Fond memories of Lincoln. Not only the very special win there but was stationed at nearby RAF Swinderby in the 70's.Later ran the line there v Bournemouth whose manager,David Webb, blew a gasket at the ref after the game.

Stewarding at the Mem is a joke, mostly young people who appear to be there to satisfy the requirements of the safety regulations rather than work for the comfort and safety of the fans. When I get the usual email asking for feedback from the last home game I make the same comments, namely that nothing is ever done to prevent the amount of smoking and vaping that goes on in the Thatchers which is not only unhealthy but illegal. It's obvious from the great clouds of smoke what's going on yet stewards continue to stare into space as though they don't notice. Who provides them with their briefing pre match - if they have such a thing? If you say anything to the people concerned no matter how polite all you get is a load of abuse. Worst was at Vale.In a class of their own were the stewards at Wolves in the early round of the league cup.Older,ex military I suspect and as soon as one of the Ray Winstone look alikes tried it on ,out he went. At Vale they roped half the away end off and some stewards were non English speaking. As an ex Staffs Police cop I gave evidence at the enquiry into the disturbance which was well received but they still roped half the away end on our next visit!!! Re the football,Joe Partington's best game by far for us was at Wolves.Dom Telford did ok too.

With the ages of Sinclair and Martin and the almost total lack of goals from Marquis or Brown, we will need a major overhaul up front.Coupled with the glaring lack of speed,I would be very concerned if we don't have a major re vamp. Not sure what length of contracts these guys are on but no doubt MT is on the case.
