Having read the comments on the thread first, I have just listened to the interview. DC seemed very relaxed and upbeat to me and see no reason to panic as some on here are doing. As regards signings, thought he was very clear in what he said, so I fully expect some decent players coming in over the next few weeks. UTG!

7/8 players, seems fine to me:
2 keepers 1 CB 1 LB 1 Winger 2 Strikers.
Would leave us well covered.
Room in the kitty for Jan. Fine.
If the loans to out to be Sweeney and Lumley great!

Listening to the interview i think it is unremarkable and reflects our club for the last 40 years . I am not alarmed as I feel we can sustain division one football . Equally: I don't get the feeling something major is happening on or off the field. Is the set up from top to bottom any better than 1996 when we left Twerton Park ?? - debatable !.
Of course there is talk we have big money on hand ( top 6) and a brand new ground ( UWE) but sadly it is only talk. So I approach this season slightly positive we are back in division one and managing well so far. The ground is the same as 10-15 years ago. The squad overall is average compared to the last 20 years. And it is us Bristol Rovers an average to good division one side ( old div 3 ) striving and talking about bigger visions.
Of course as I have said many times if the UWE is pulled off and we push for the championship . Then I will be the first to thank the club for bringing success which is beyond our humble position. But talking now in reality I am neither excited or down. Currently: we are an average 3rd tier side in a poor ground and that's it. But I hope the dream come's true like everyone else do..

All the Gas trying to tell DC how to run the show - give it a break & let him do what he does very well! You're not naive enough to think he takes any notice of what anyone on here has to say are you? Chill out iit's people's opinions which at the end of the day count for the sum of zilch. It would be pretty boring if everyone thought the same - and agreed with everything he did or said - it's a forum ffs. Not all, but then if he expects fans to attend local friendlies he has to realise that fans will also be aloof and say no thanks if there is nothing to see. I also believe the 10/11 new signings will turn out to be five and we will end up with no bigger a squad of first team players than last year.

Will draw judgement until I listen to the interview but why did DC & SH suggest a month or so ago they'd be signing 10 players, DC even described the type of players he wanted, now it's suddenly dropped to 7/8.

Christ on a bike, another great interview from one of the best, if not THE best manager this club has had, and all the would be successors to his throne whining & whinging trying to have a dig at his every word. A top 6 budget does not mean there will be 5 teams in the division spending more than us - it means DC has asked for a budget, that he thinks he will be able to work with to get us a top 6 spot. He mentioned attitude a few times & look at the squad 2013,2014, I bet that cost more than today & look at the wasters & where we were then. Well despite his critics & the doom & gloom on his tactics, formation, selling snake, persisting with LJ, loaning wrong players, not playing loanees that 'we wanted', not brining in players 'we' want, bringing in players 'we' don't rate, etc etc, he got us to within 7 points of the play offs!!! I get its always subjective, but some on here just don't like him & would find fault if we won the league this season. He's had 2 full seasons as a FL Manager, I think he has been terrific so far, it's time to move on from the relegation year & get right behind this man & what he is trying to do for the club

Take those rose tinted glasses off i myself think we'll be fighting relegation this season ( hope not and I will be at most games ) but we always seem very slow and uninformed on anything happening at the club remember without the fans the club would no longer be. How can you say that in the first week of July ? Surely we should see what our squad looks like in August before we can make any realistic predictions about where we're going to be. Just my gut feeling we have had a lot of luck over the past 3 seasons and this will be a tough league this season and you need to get the squad fully ready UTG sir

Just because a manager or chairman says something it doesn't mean it's going to happen. They come out with the same predictable stuff every time, same with players. Makes me laugh that so many people hang on to every word they say and then get all upset when it doesn't happen.

It's 46 games not a one off.

The loan signing of Lumley last season was torn apart by most on here before he'd played a game and now those same people are hoping we sign him again. A signing is only a good or bad signing once he's worn the quarters and played at least a dozen games. Names and age mean nothing it's what they do with a football for Rovers that matters.

He's talking about young loan signings again - really not a supporter of this approach. Why should we develop other clubs talent and see them walk out the door after a year? Surely the focus has now got to be on finding and developing our own through the under 21's. Parent clubs of loanees will want their players getting game time - one of the reasons I suggest that Roberts, Colkett and Boateng all left early. To challenge near the top end of this division will need a team of predominantly seasoned pros with at least two or three years of 'hard' league experience. I think you're right Sheff U, Millwall - had a large core of their own players - seasoned L1 players. We have some ourselves now - but of course the spine of the side needs this L1 quality - so far we only have the midfield shored up. However, to contradict myself we also saw a massive improvement in the team when we brought in Lumley and Sweeney.

Poor old Gillingham fans are moaning because they have only signed 5 players.

They won the league finishing with 100 points.

having listened to the interview - Im neither excited nor down about it. The questions could've been better - easy-ride ones there really !
Reassuring only that 2 senior keepers will be coming in.

As ever it was another good interview from DC, suspect he was looking to manage fans expectations in a slightly different way to Paul Buckle.

Since when did Academy players count as 1st team squad players, if we're going to start counting them we'll need something like 50 players not 25. Whatever happens the big one for me is who we bring in to replace the snake, I was also hopefully we'd splash a bit of money on his replacement but now I sense we'll have to make do with just another freebie.

You would like to think the £300k we received for him would be reinvested and maybe even some of the rumoured £300k we received from the Chelsea match.

Little doubt in my mind we are going to need a least two regular 1st team players (strikers) who are going to contribute at least 30 - 35 goals between them over the season - otherwise we could be in trouble. Currently, IMO the sum total for the players we have at the moment will produce 35-40 goals if we're lucky. Not too much pressure DC.
