And to top it all off he compares Rovers to a team that went bankrupt..

Notice they already had a NIMBY from Horfield on Radio Bristol this morning, complaining about this in advance.

At least give them their proper name ROSE, obviously all of them being residents before 1921 when it became the Memorial ground??

Don't get excited, this is probably more bluff. I'll believe the redevelopment when I'm sat in it!

HORFIELD R.O.S.E have just woken For the record I say a Mem redevelopment would be absolutely the wrong option. However, should that be the way The Board decide to go, how the heck can the mishmash of humanity that is ROSE, or whatever they call themselves now, object to the stadium when their arguments were about the loss of amenity, desecration of a War Memorial etc etc that would now be staying. Traffic might be an issue though.......!

The question of re-developing the Mem only came up (to be skirted around) because no other alternative has been put forward yet. I didn't get a 'We're re-developing the Mem' message from that interview at all, more of a 'We have no idea what we're doing and hadn't thought this far'. I'm not down there with the doom-mongerers but the way Hamer sat there grinning like a Cheshire cat while saying things like 'it's very sad' suggested a bit of a disconnect between his brain and his body. The expression on his face made him look like he had wind and was just there to let out some hot air.

If it was the same person who was just on she said it was fine for City to redevelop Ashton as it "was out of town" - cleary never left Filton Avenue in her life. I suspect she protested like mad against Sainsburys there as well - think a few of the anti supermarket mob might regret doing that if a massive stand casts a nice big shadow over their house. Even if the Mem does not get redeveloped they still get parking chaos for years to come. The Sainsburys deal was a good solution for Rovers and for the site, but the Nimbys ruined that deal as well.

I must admit I got the same impression, he said we would have to look at it again because the priority is to get improved facilities, he also said that he's sure we'll be inundated with other possibilities and that the Al Qaedi family are fully behind the project. Now obviously whether you believe anything he says is a different matter but I didn't recognize some of the more extreme interpretations of the interview that others have put forward.

Notice they already had a NIMBY from Horfield on Radio Bristol this morning, complaining about this in advance. Yet when Sainsbury's were about to move in they wanted us to stay...

The most disappointing thing for me was that the whole interview/press conference was reactive - he was answering questions asked of him but gave nothing away about what the plans are now. The training ground wasnt mentioned either which I think is concerning, you would have thought they would have dined out on that being something that we can influence in the short term to move the club forward.

"Hello fellow group members. My name is Scooby doo and I'm a Bristol Rovers fan".
(round of applause followed by) "Welcome Scooby and congratulations for having the courage to come to terms with your predicament".
