Indeed he does, I dont argue with that. But he's improved the club on and off the pitch since the take over. I dont see how anybody can question or deny that? He's done the minimum expected of a new rich owner imo. Just my opinion, meals at training, scoreboard/clock, pitch, tents/stands, paintwork all fairly standard low cost hanging fruit. As for on the field DC has worked miracles to get to L1 with very little help from the new owners. This pre season we have barely brought in the quality to match last season having seen our competitors additions. Again just my opinion. Id be more optimistic if I saw something noteworthy happening with the training ground, at least that would show some commitment, alas that seem to have died down as well. minimum, really, the club has completely changed from a year ago, we've been transformed as a club. The club I grew up with from eastvile is been run far more professional. We've got good times ahead, let's try and enjoy itđ

The club has been brought up to date a little, nothing more.

If DC says the club have been brought up to date and it's a good time to be involved in the club and you say that good times aren't ahead and the owners aren't doing much then I think I'll believe Darrel Clarke. Unless your involved with the day today running of our club more than him ?

Not much more really than anyone else might have done. Given a contract to a manager that was already here, signed a few players and staff, mostly loans or free transfers, painted a bar, renewed a pitch that was due to be renewed. Paid for by a charge against the ground, not 'new' money. All fine good, but hardly makes him a saviour.
Our success on the pitch is largely down to one man, Darrell Clarke, who has made silk purses out of sow's ears.
Why didnt Dunford/Higgs do it then? To say not more than anybody else would of done is not true, seeing as nobody else did it. I didnt say he was a saviour. No offence but you're talking absolute nonsense. Because they were incompetent. You didn't say saviour, sipirate did, which is who I originally quoted.

I have to agree with fact that it is DC that has got us to where we are now. If the money that Wael has spent so far has mostly come from the 10 million loan then he hasn't really put allot into the club . Remember the Dunford's bought the Mem for us, where would we be now if we didn't own the stadium?, probably dead and buried certainly would not have been able to put a 10 million loan against it. Every thing went quiet after the feasibility study was received in November, I suspect the report said that UWE wasn't feasible in it's present form. In April when I contacted Mr Hamer i got the impression that things were in the balance and we would be staying at the Mem if UWE fell through although it would be likely that the Mem would be revamped. Charlton's valley ground was a tip but they rebuilt it as have Blackpool with Blomefield rd . I would be happy to have a Mem rebuilt like one of those grounds , providing the seats were in blue and white!. Of course parking issues would have to be sorted before any Mem re-development.

Geoff Dunford is chatting about the issue on the Facebook Appreciation Page. Nothing juicy yet...

Avonmouth. South Gloucestershire. The construction of the new Farm Lane two bridge junction on the M49 is scheduled to commence before the end of this year. The junction is halfway between the M5 and M4 junctions of the M49. Will tie in nicely with the site for our new Stadium.

No problem about getting a suitable site on Avonmouth Severnside Enterprise zone, the largest brown field site in Western Europe. I would hope our owners and its a big if are looking at areas like this because there is never going to be a suitable site within the Bristol city boundaries that would be affordable now that the UWE is off the table. If we are serious about moving this sort of location is what we should be after. If our friends across the river can lay on free buses from a couple of the park and ride sites in Bristol for their supporters, surely our club could do the same for those who would find it difficult to get to Avonmouth. If Waels comment about the UWE posted on here a couple of days ago, that it is not central enough is to be believed I would suggest we will definitely never move from the Mem where I feel quite sure public objections will hinder any attempt to redevelop our present site.

True,I don't think they really want it too big of a commitment If they walked away now they wouldn't lose much, build a stadium and they are committed big time,do they want that or just a little toy to play with

If itâs an essential requirement for the Al-Qadis to only build a stadium somewhere that has potential for nearby hotel and leisure facilities, then the UWE site is about as good as theyâre going to get in the Bristol area. All the suggestions of Avonmouth and various out of town industrial areas will not be suitable to the ownersâ requirements and they should make this clear to the fans. The latest âMem redevelopmentâ suggestion just looks like a pacifying smokescreen to me. No one will spend enough time, money, inconvenience to build something worthwhile at such a restrictive site, even if allowed to, which is doubtful following the student flats and Sainsburys debacles. Wael must be straight and honest to the fans on what his family is now prepared to do for the club.

Are you in the know, to my knowledge they were going to build a football stadium as the original plan and no plans were ever lodged with South Gloucester council to build leisure and hotel facilities at UWE?

After years in the Wilderness and finally with a home at the Mem then if if we redevelop then so be it.... If the UWE is dead then so be it!
We have been through enough these past 38 years so if we have to rebuild the Mem' and Wael is happy to cover the costs then so be it... I'm sure the Al Quadi fiamily are not stupid with money unlike a certain w**ker from Guernsey
