New Stadium - hit the buffers. New Training ground - no real news - and this is how things started to become with the new stadium. You can't dress it up - not good. All i can say is Rome was not built in a day.......... But it was still built quicker than anything we've mananged!

That's what my planning friend said to me recently Do you have a friend in planning Henbury? Why on earth haven't you mentioned it before? Any chance you could get them to hurry South Glos along? When his new contract starts in September i sure will !

When the land was bought a palisade fence was quickly erected, since then nothing
There are disgruntled mutterings going on within the academy wondering what's happening
Personally up until and shortly after the UWE collapse I still had some faith in Wael and co and whilst I sort of still do have some faith these things are progressing ultimately we are literally years away from having training complex and a worthy stadium in place
In the darker recesses of my v small brain sometimes I do think has Wael been indulged by the family and initially from their point of view it all looked rosier than it actually was
Planning for new stadium and the potential etc et.
Which could all be good for business
Now it's all foundering .......
Just saying........I hope I'm wrong

Bit like the stadium really, I'll start getting excited about it when they start the building work but until then it's talk and there's more important current matters like winning our next game.

Yawn. Personally I'm getting a bit bored of the constant negativity and conspiracy theories around the training ground development.
The club have just put out a statement bringing us all up to date with where they are and reconfirming their committment to the project. They are conducting themselves in a respectful and professional manner which is something we should be proud of. I'd rather they take their time and get this right than run at it like a bull in a China shop.
The season's now well underway with plenty going on on the pitch to be excited about.
Why don't we all just put it to the back of our minds for the next couple of months and concentrate on supporting the team and enjoying the football. The time will fly by and I've no doubt that before we know it we should have something to get excited about when they publish their proposed design that they intend to submit for planning approval. UTG!

So..........just like the UWE Project eh? Oops sorry, thought this thread was about the colony It is, but that paragraph could have been used/said during the UWE Project, and look how that turned out! As for the Colony, I'm just waiting for Hamer to come out and say the "Landing Lights Are On".

As for the Colony, I'm just waiting for Hamer to come out and say the "Landing Lights Are On". OK, since you mention it, I don't really see the similarity that you are looking to highlight as they are completely different projects with completely different constraints. The land at the colony is owned by Wael, all that is standing in the way of the development moving forward is getting planning for what we really want to build and securing finance. Since we are told that finance isn't an issue that just leaves planning which is an issue you have to deal with anyway. Obviously there are risks with the planning process but the way the club are handling it is aimed at minimising the risk of planning being refused, which is exactly right. My point is that there really not much more we can say on this, why don't we just let them get on with it and enjoy the football. UTG!

I dont know what could possibly be the issue with planning. There is bugger all near by. A Farm, a motorway, a golf course i think.
Cant see where complaints could come from.
Even if All ours sides trained there, and there isnt many, its not like traffic would be effected.

Even if All ours sides trained there, and there isnt many, its not like traffic would be effected. There is a fairly new development on the old hospital site next door but most of the residents there weren't concerned when they learnt that it was going to be a training ground in fact they hoped that it might offer some facilities for them. As for Wael owning the Colony, he doesn't, the whole family does and that might be where the current problem lies.

There is no problem, the club are progressing with planning through the normal process: prepare outline design proposal, submit for a pre-applicaton review by the local authority, await feedback, amend design proposal to address any issues raised, submit planning application.

The Colony will happen. Have patience and belief. It will be good for a pro football team in Bristol to own its own site and academy set up. Its a bit tinpot when a team has to rent a site.
