From the supporters club AGM last night it was revealed the Mem will be redeveloped stand by stand.
If you were put in charge of planning this what do you think is the most sensible way to carry this out?
Also I don't know if this was asked, but does this mean the pitch will be staying where it is?

I'm not sure this was confirmed - it is how SH feels it could be done by doing one side each close season, therefore never reducing capacity.

Very difficult to call this as they will lose facilities....
West : lose boxes and changing rooms East : lose hospitality and club shop North : lose both bars
There's no room to do anything with the south until they've freed up a few yards of space

I guess there's about 15 metres you could gain by pushing the pitch right up towards the north stand and maybe shortening it slightly (temporarily).

I'd do East side first behind the Dribuild in the carpark.

I've heard that we're bringing in Tammy Wynette to supervise the build. Stand by your man.

Most sensible way to carry this out? Speak to nick higgs as it was his plan before uwe was built. Should be an easy conversation, as long as you don't owe him any money

Expect the worst and then possibly be pleasantly surprised. I was there last night and I don't think it'll ever happen. Hamer wasn't very clear about options, little planning seems to have been done, it's basically start from scratch. Stands would need private finance. Even if it all was put in place stand by stand would take 4 x 2 or 3 years.

Firstly I am by no means anti Wael & family but personal concerns are beginning to grow as to what is actually going on behind the scenes. We hear literally nothing for months on end, it was clear that there was no plan in place after the collapse of the UWE debacle and I for one am not expecting anything to happen in the next 5 years on the ground.
In my mind it is clear that funding is an issue and that leads me to believe that the plug was pulled on the UWE due to funds not being available, it also seems to be odd to propose a deadline where we would walkaway with no alternative as an option- what would have been the issue with continuing to negotiate with the UWE over the next 12-18 months if required, we had nothing to lose?
It is expected that operating losses would increase this year from circa £800k to aprox £1.2m due to the infrastructure now in place, and a after chatting to BSS last week he suggested that he couldn't believe the amount of people now employed by DS and scarily, he believed that the supporters should be strongly questioning the board on the plans to redevelop the mem, as for his opinion he could never see it happening.

Blackthorn 1st, big stand over clubhouse but move it back 4 - 6 metres so pitch can be moved north to make more room at tent end which would be next. Then East stand (huge with boxes and changing rooms etc under it). Then West stand last. Blackthorn most problematic as where do those fans go during works

Very good post. I agree with most of that. Very hard to understand how the family plan to finance the club in the short to medium term given the staffing expenditure explosion we appear to have undergone. It's almost starting to look a bit like they don't actually have a plan. But that surely can't be the case, can it?? And the Mem regeneration appears to be being made up as we go along...

Starting to think the plan is to play for time and hope we can sell one of the young players, Bodin, Locks or Harrison, for big money as P'boro & Oxford have done recently, to then fund the various projects. Hence why we're spending so much on the academy & development squads, in order to try and create a line of young players we can sell in the future. In the meantime SH will just keep feeding us excuses.

I think we just need to wait for the actual development plans to materialise.
I would imagine starting with the Thatchers and then swinging around into the dribuild. An enlarged stand can be built behind both terraces, in season then in the close season, the initial ground works and structure for the dribuild in season. Then close season complete both stands and move the pitch north and towards the existing dribuild terrace.
I would imagine all the directors and hospitality boxes could be moved to a new dribuild stand making that the signature stand for the ground. That would ensure maximum revenue is maintained for the club in build.
Second phase would be the south stand. That could be done through a season easily enough and then the lancer Scott stand last. By which point the capacity should be raised beyond what that stand currently holds presently. The changing rooms etc could be moved to one of the new stands.
Pitch wise we could get one those similar to the one at the Mellenium Stadium where they move it about. That lessens the pressure to dig, flatten and seed a new one across a close season.

Minefield. Loads of things to consider!! Plus we don't know what the plans would be for each stand. Genuinely wouldn't know where to start so I'll leave it to the experts

Yeovil did it before and the sort of thing Glos Cricket have had when big matches on
