If you supported the future of your football club, you wouldn't attend tonight. But have a good night Henbury. Every time you look at all the empty spaces on the terrace, remember those who would love to be out watching football tonight but have put the future of the club and lower league football first. You are soooo Wrong The people at the top don't give a sh** if i attend or not and i'm sure don't give a sh** about them I hope you enjoy watching Eastenders over watching the rovers Edit forgot to tell you that i'm taking a friend with me who don't normally go to a Rovers game, but is a West Ham supporter "We do need everybody to get behind what we are trying to achieve""The crowds will increase and they won't have to go too far to get back to where they were for this competition in the past"Just two quotes from Shaun Harvey - who's competition you are actively supporting tonight. If you genuinely think the powers that be don't care about attendances, interest and engagement, you're very much mistaken.

I've found the competition rules with regards to the players; - Full Available Strength means EFL clubs must include at least four qualifying players in the ten outfield players named in their starting XI. - The four qualifying players must either (a) start the preceding fixture (b) start the fixture immediately after (c) be in the top ten of appearance makers for the club so far that season (d) have made forty or more first team starting appearances in their career to date. So assuming everyone, like me, wants as few as possible first team players playing, who would you pick (bearing in mind the above rules)? My guess at the four qualifying players would be to play Smith in Goal (because he hasn't played that much anyway so cannot be tired!) I am assuming Moore and Partington have started more than forty first team games in their careers? Is Sweeney in our top ten appearance makers this season? Without looking into it I am not sure. If not then maybe Broadbent should play again and be classed as the fourth qualifying player. I assume this then lets us make up the rest of the squad with other fringe and youth players? Totally farcical to dictate who we have to pick and allow the opposition to select whoever they want to. Total shambles.

none of your business what anyone does Aye, but the future of the club and lower league football is very much our business. Massive respect for standing up for future generations of Gasheads. bored now every year same stuff. Hate this extreme left wing style of bullying

Go on then , I'll bite. Like usual I shan't be attending this sh** fest. Opinions of fans who attend will soon change when we are playing the city u23s on a regular basis. Whilst I appreciate everyone's opinion I really do detest this competition as to me it's clear what the final outcome will be if fans carry on attending. Support your team by staying away.

Like when Luton were fined last year for playing kids in a competition for kids! It was like they were telling them only the kids from the premier league teams are good enough! Enough though ironically, many of those kids where poached from lower league teams in the first place!

It all seems like a good idea[not going]. But the lower league clubs that need saving voted to keep the premier/championship teams in the competition which makes a joke of not going out of protest imo. you sure?

Love all this holier than thou sh*t on here.
Henbury, if you want to go, you go. It's up to no one else on here. I choose not to go because we are not playing a league side. I will attend for the Swindon game because they are.
It's my choice, and I don't give a sh*t who it upsets. I hope you don't either.

The current format is just a very thinly veiled way of testing the reaction to B-Teams in our Leagues. If supporters go to these farces (can't call them matches), then the powers-that-be will see that as a sign that supporters will go along to any old dross. Slippery slope. You don't have to look far to see the contempt some clubs (incluing ours) have shown the tournament by making first minute substitutions or playing fringe players instead of anything resembling a first XI. If people go, you're basically condoning these kind of experiments and continuing the "stock-piling" mentality some Premier League clubs have towards young talent. No good will come of it. #BTeamBoycott

In for a penny, I am going as I couldn't make it on Saturday. I have read the pro's and con's of attendance/non attendance and as a grown up capable of making my own mind up with out some of the bombastic (bullying) attempts to change my opinion.

It clearly is. B) People are passionate about this idea given what's at stake in the longer term. Anyone who fights for the long term future of lower league football should be applauded.

In my opinion the Chairmen of the lower league football clubs are highly unlikely to accept a fifth division come what may, which I will say counteracts some of your vitiole. UTG

FFS it must be Checkatrade Trophy night!!! Life changes, football changes. If you can't keep pace with change you will get left behind. This format was democratically voted for by the lower league clubs, our club voted against, they didn't pull out in protest, so I won't. The future of our club is NOW, if we are not around in x years time when/if they have another vote to invite B teams into the league, then it won't matter. I wonder where the club would be now if the FL had agreed to change to 2 clubs relegated from L2 a year earlier & we went down with Halifax? Still roll on next Wed for round 3 of I'm saving my club by not going tonight.- let's see how many go to Trashton in Dec to see Manure U23 team in the League cup or what If we draw a top 6 Prem team at the Mem, should we progress in the FA cup, who would wait to see who is going to play before we buy the ticket? Ahh Coffee's here.......UTG

UTG I'm very keen to make people aware of what's at stake here. As I've stated previously it's their decision to attend tonight. The Chairmen of lower league football have actively demonstrated they are prepared to be swayed by the financial incentives offered by the Premier League. With respect, I think that view is naive given the increased dependency on external funding and continued growth of the Premier League. In my opinion it's inevitable a new proposal will be brought to the table in years ahead and the chances of it being accepted will be greatly heightened by fixtures such as tonight's being normalised and accepted. Our club has a great history and standing in the English game and deserves more respect than to be used as fodder for financially bloated Premier League/Championship clubs to give their kids/reserves a run out.

It's a disgrace and I would urge as many non-attendees as possible. I'm probably somewhere between falsenumber9 and Gasincider in my views. It is up to people to have a good hard look at the damage they are doing by attending but ultimately it's their choice and if they feel they can square it with themselves that's that.
