Good post , if in the unlikely event we got to Wembley, I would still maintain my stance. I really do feel that strongly against it. I hate the fact that I have to miss games but in my view I think the bigger picture has to be seen. Like I mentioned earlier I shudder to think what would happen if one day these teams were introduced into our leagues and a fixture against the sh** u23s or West Ham's youth is a regular fixture. Like everyone else who posts on here I am 100% committed and passionate about the gas and I only want what's best for our long term future so my kids , kids have a team to support, so if my little boycott helps in my mind and opinion so be it. I will not however have a pop to people who turn up and watch as everyone has different views. Could you entertain the thought that just maybe we could be one of those championship teams putting a U23 team into the competition. Or do you think we will be a lower league team for the next 5-10 years ? Not having a pop just interested in your view I would never entertain the idea regardless of what league were in henbury. I find it hugely disrespectful to all the clubs in the lower echelons of league football, I personally believe the real hardcore football fans are the lower league fans who follow their teams through thick and thin , whether it's a trip to ewood park or a trip to Accrington Stanley we as fans still turn up. I personally believe that this competition is the eventual gateway for these premier/championship football clubs academies into the lower domestic leagues which would ultimately be the death of lower league football. In answer to your question about us being a lower league team between the next 5-10 years , I think we will see gradual improvement over the coming years yes, but right now we are where we have been pretty much historically, I'm happy to be where we are but I am sure we will one day grace the championship.

I fully agree with your argument re this silly cup competition but the big IF for me is will the Owners of the EFL teams allow them to enter the leagues in the future ?. If they put Money before the possible decline in the league then there is no hope for football as it is today. Maybe the league do need to change sometime in the future, because at the moment it is going backwards. What i can see is either the Premier teams will brake away to form their own league system or more likely the top 6-10 teams will join a European league and the remaining teams rejoin the EFL I would like to think with the right investment in the club we could end up in the championship but i have a feeling that sometime in the near future we will end back in the League 2 because of no investment in the right areas

Our Chairman voted against this competition. Oh, wait....our Chairman bullshits us all. Does that mean I should go or not now? This post hasn't helped at all. As you were. Could be a bit chilly tonight Hugo. You might need a second blanket; I will probably use the one from my car to disguise myself on entry incase any of the anti-attendance hitsquad are there to name and shame UTG Disguise yourself as Lee Johnson. Then you will be safe from anyone wanting to have a pop.

72 football club chairmen casting a vote per club isn't democracy. It's men in power doing what they want without consulting their fans. It's a bit like the old days of the 1970s when the Transport and General Workers union would vote at the TUC conference with their bloc of 1,500,000 votes. The 1970"s wow, full employment and nice council estates. Unfortunately those days are long gone, ruined by left wing martyrs which have made the Cities and large towns of this once great country the absolute lawless shitholes we live in today. As for the Mickey Mouse cup, I don’t agree with the format and will not be attending.

Looks like the club are expecting a bumper crowd tonight! Pay on the night available with a choice of North terrace, West stand and Family enclosure only. All other areas of the ground shut.

Well the pages in this thread with the pages about it last week make it about 11 pages now and the same arguments going round and round. I will be following the match on the BBC website and having just arrived back from Oz hope I can stay awake to see us win.I hope everyone who goes has a great evening and enjoys seeing a good win. UTG!

Because of work, time away and other commitments I've only been to two games this season - one home and one away. A couple of years ago I'd be in the shower right now with a can of cider singing Goodnight Irene and getting excited about watching a Rovers side with a spattering of reserves/youngsters take on a similar side fielded by a Yeovil Or Leyton Orient.
Not now though. Not even if it was an EFL side.

At first football fans were outraged at Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes...changing their name etc. There were petitions and some protests about it. However ,fans continued to go to the matches . 8700 went on Saturday to watch Rovers play a club that essentially bought a league position avoiding the football ladder altogether. No one even mentions it anymore. Unless the Under 21 idea fails in the first few years it will become an established feature and crowds will drift back to their normal low levels for this competition. After all this is all about giving young premier league players competitive action against experienced players in proper matches. The FA don't care about the money side its already been accepted its going to be loss making.
What the rules don't appear to cover is what positions the players will play.
Smith could play left wing ,Harrison in goal ,Brown centre forward alongside Clarke. The whole first team could play and have some fun all playing in different areas of the pitch to normal. Let the players know they can do their little party tricks in the game and it doesn't matter if it goes wrong. D.C. and crew could even wear clown noses for the evening. A comedy night...the club could put on a comedian in the bar.Jokes and funny stories in the programme Make it fun for everyone and take the initiative. A 8000 crowd watching the team probably lose six nil but have a right good laugh.
Just an idea like...

Brollix never happened, wilson never ran with his tail betwixt his legs, Callaghan was never given a lost cause, blair din't repeat this with brown . Binmen wern't on strike they were merely taking unpaid leave,as were the car and motorcycle industries, was all an optical illusion on behalf of the Tory party n behalf of the tory party
