You are a trixie one. You avoided the other part of the answer. Are you Gina Miller in disguise ? Wow, you don't half make up a load of crap to amuse yourself. I've never said we shouldn't brexit. I think we should, now that we've voted on it. That was the whole point of the vote. I've never been keen on referenda type votes, though, in a representative democracy it undermines the representative part. But as we did it, we should stick to it, and be committed to it.

Democracy doesn't just mean 'vote.' 72 businesses having a vote doesn't mean it's democracy. Democracy is a system of running organizations, businesses, and groups in which each member is entitled to vote and take part in decisions. ...the union's emphasis on industrial democracy.
Good enough for me, but thanks for pointing out my ignorance. I agree there's loads of definitions to democracy and loads of different types and loads of ways it is used, but invoking it to legitimise the current format of the EFL Trophy is stretching things, in my view.

A) No one is telling him it's not his or anyone else's choice. It clearly is. B) People are passionate about this idea given what's at stake in the longer term. Anyone who fights for the long term future of lower league football should be applauded. Ok i will make a deal with you If our chairperson/manager/owner put out a statement saying we are playing tonight but we don't want you to attend because we don't want to support this competition, then i would not go But they will never do that because, guess what MONEY talks and the Majority of League chairpersons voted in favour for this competition and like most democratic societies we generally follow the democratic way of life and don't follow instructions from right wing activists Wingers making a comeback - nice to see

Those that have banged on and on and on and on about this competition being devil's own creation will, I hope, not comment on the team's performance for as long as they are in it. The competition is dead to you and you are dead to it.

72 football club chairmen casting a vote per club isn't democracy. It's men in power doing what they want without consulting their fans.
It's a bit like the old days of the 1970s when the Transport and General Workers union would vote at the TUC conference with their bloc of 1,500,000 votes.

I'm very keen to make people aware of what's at stake here. As I've stated previously it's their decision to attend tonight. The Chairmen of lower league football have actively demonstrated they are prepared to be swayed by the financial incentives offered by the Premier League. With respect, I think that view is naive given the increased dependency on external funding and continued growth of the Premier League. In my opinion it's inevitable a new proposal will be brought to the table in years ahead and the chances of it being accepted will be greatly heightened by fixtures such as tonight's being normalised and accepted. Our club has a great history and standing in the English game and deserves more respect than to be used as fodder for financially bloated Premier League/Championship clubs to give their kids/reserves a run out. You could be right on the first point, but I can't see anything but the top 10 PL clubs being involved & certainly not Championship clubs, without a lot of lower league clubs going to the wall beforehand. Playing against reserves & kids has been happening for years in the FA Cup & League Cup. Personally I think there is more chance of there being a European League, for the big boys, but that will bring its own ramifications for lower league clubs Irrespective of how many PL clubs were allowed, it simply shouldn't be allowed to happen surely? Fundamentally goes against a core principle of football in this country, something which makes our league structure the most envied in the world. Reserves and kids have been fielded in cup competitions in the past, but this is something altogether different. It's clubs being allowed to enter a second team in a competition which is unprecedented. Euro League is clearly a potential development in future but I honestly think this is just a matter of time if people are prepared to support it, which many on these thread seem intent on doing.

I'm surprised that the recent success of the U20,19 and 17 England teams hasn't been put forward by those in charge as "proof" that the Checkatrade trophy involving U23 teams from the bigger clubs is working! We all know of course what a farce it is when those bigger club play foreign youngsters and older journeymen British players!
Whilst I respect everyone individual view on whether to attend or not, I wouldn't want to attend this particular game in the competition at least.

Good post , if in the unlikely event we got to Wembley, I would still maintain my stance. I really do feel that strongly against it. I hate the fact that I have to miss games but in my view I think the bigger picture has to be seen. Like I mentioned earlier I shudder to think what would happen if one day these teams were introduced into our leagues and a fixture against the sh** u23s or West Ham's youth is a regular fixture. Like everyone else who posts on here I am 100% committed and passionate about the gas and I only want what's best for our long term future so my kids , kids have a team to support, so if my little boycott helps in my mind and opinion so be it. I will not however have a pop to people who turn up and watch as everyone has different views. Could you entertain the thought that just maybe we could be one of those championship teams putting a U23 team into the competition. Or do you think we will be a lower league team for the next 5-10 years ? Not having a pop just interested in your view It's about standing up for the football pyramid. It's not just a bad idea because it would be to are detriment now it's a bad idea because it will be to the detriment of the football pyramid wherever we sit in that pyramid. Unfortunately you sound like a 'I'm alright Jack ' sort of person so I can now understand why you would be supporting the greed of the Premier league

Hugo, I love my Bristol Rovers and would go to every game if i could BUT would never go watch them in the premier, where money is the name of the game and not the joy of football... PS i may need your blanket for tonight, i'm in the west stand and i remember it gets a bit windy up on the balcony.....

Go on then , I'll bite. Like usual I shan't be attending this sh** fest. Opinions of fans who attend will soon change when we are playing the city u23s on a regular basis. Whilst I appreciate everyone's opinion I really do detest this competition as to me it's clear what the final outcome will be if fans carry on attending. Support your team by staying away. Hear hear! The current format is just a very thinly veiled way of testing the reaction to B-Teams in our Leagues. If supporters go to these farces (can't call them matches), then the powers-that-be will see that as a sign that supporters will go along to any old dross. Slippery slope. You don't have to look far to see the contempt some clubs (incluing ours) have shown the tournament by making first minute substitutions or playing fringe players instead of anything resembling a first XI. If people go, you're basically condoning these kind of experiments and continuing the "stock-piling" mentality some Premier League clubs have towards young talent. No good will come of it. #BTeamBoycott This is the best argument I have seen against attending. The last time there was a nastiness about some of the posts that made me feel I wanted to go just show the bullies they wouldn't win by bullying.
Sensible, rational arguments like this are 10 times more powerful in my view.
I'm not going, but would never condemn those who take a different view. Enjoy the game if you are going.
