Probably the best case scenario (realistically) for me is for him to bang the goals in through December, Lift us up to mid table then sell him for say £500k in Jan hoping what we have plus any January transfer business will be enough to keep us up.

Just wait until he signs for our nearest neighbors and watch the biggest meltdown this forum has ever seen.

In a strange way the injury has probably cooled interest in him / his stock, and may help us. Ditto being a known threat - teams will mark him more / crop him.
Old school Football managers are fickle as hell - once you are out of the top stats / headlines they move onto the next hot property.
It's the more modern ones you have to be careful of - those who use stats and the moneyball style approach. Won't slip under their radar...

It's not negativity, it's realism. I'm just fed up of all the kicking of the team and the doom and gloom around here right now.
If he goes, he goes
Exactly. No player is bigger than the club. We have sold our better players before and I am sure we will continue to sell our better players in the future. I appreciate what he has done for us but if he wants to go then let him go and we'll move on as we always do. We have offered him a contract that would make him the highest paid player in our history or one of the highest paid players in our history. As a club, we have done our bit. But if he still wants to go then fair enough. No point keeping a player that doesn't want to stay. I would though try and make a deal to keep him around until the summer to get us through this season with our league 1 status still intact, and then he can walk in the summer, with our blessing and good luck to him.

DC surely cannot afford to let him go, regardless if the **** make a £300k offer, BB has to stay, he could be the difference between staying up and going down; lets be honest, what really good player, unless he is an untried footballer from the conference, is going to join us if we are anywhere near the bottom of Div 1 ?

What if we did drop him and BB just decided to see out his contract before joining another club in the summer, we'd still have to pay his wages whilst he just sat in the stands

I've seen every match except Portsmouth away and in my opinion we will be relegated if we let Bodin go in January.
You can't replace players like Bodin and Taylor. It wouldn't matter if we got 2 million we'd still be in a worse position on the pitch because we wouldn't be able to attract a player of Bodin's quality to the club regardless what we paid.
Given our precarious position and form sice Bodin's injury I think we'd be odds on to go down if we let him leave.
Therefore, even if he can't be persuaded to sign a new deal we have to keep him until the summer. If we let him go it shows the board are very short sighted and only interested in the finances. I hope they realise relegation would end up costing them a lot more than any fee we might receive for Bodin in January.

Just give him what he wants, worth every penny.

Hamer says BB has had a contract offer for the last 4 weeks and my guess is that if there have been no further discusions then he sees his future elsewhere. The trouble is the wage difference between league 1 and Championship is huge and the best offer we could make will be a lot less than he can get elsewhere. Perhaps offering a buy-out clause might help but otherwise I think selling him if the right offer comes in is best and just hope DC spends the money wisely. Suspect £300k- £400k is most we will be offered which is probably less than half his market value with a long contact with us. Only hope of a biggish fee is a bidding war if several clubs really want him.

If he goes, he goes. If he does, it had better be for a sh** load of money. Can't see anyone paying a sh** load of money for a injury prone third division player
