Nichols was signed ,then the uwe stadium was ended. The budget was then reduced (im guessing). D.C. has said many times that TN prefers to play upfront along side a big striker. I would hazard a guess that had the budget not been amended then that big striker would have been signed.
You don't sign a player for that kind of money and wages who plays best a certain way and then get him to do something different. That does not make any sense.
I expect a big striker to arrive in the summer. Which may or may not lead to either EH or RG leaving .
TN will then be expected to deliver.

I’d rather just get shot of Nichols and keep Ellis and Gafney and bring in a couple more strikers to replace Nichols The thought of losing Ellis and then relying on Nichols sends a relegation shiver down my spine.

Nichols didn't play with a big striker at Peterborough and on quite a few occasions played upfront on his own for Exeter.

Its not my opinion or need even be based on historical cases but what was said . So whats happened in the past is irrelevant I guess (?)

Going off subject a tad I was hoping to see what Dom Telford can do , what’s the point in signing the guy and not giving him a game all a bit strange!

Whether Nichols plays alongside a big striker or not is irrelevant whilst he only half halfheartedly attempts everything he does.
I think he has one more season with us to deliver after this one.

Telford has less than a year left on his contract and we are using the loan to have a look at him. It's the same with Bola.

Exactly!for what ever reason TN ain’t doing it it may do him good to be dropped and I reckon Dom would do a job guess we will never know

It amazes me the number who criticise Tom Nicholls and yet say all the time "In DC they trust". how can they be so totally behind DC and yet heavily question his ace signing. The Key signings last Summer were Wingers/central defensive midfielder and a replacement for Taylor. Those three positions are still under scrutiny with nicholls, Bennett, Mensah and no defensive midfielder. We have to be prepared to give Bennett and Mensah time.

Nichols is ours and we paid considerable money for, Telford is a loanee so DC's logic is understandable however flawed it might be. A bit of perseverance and playing a system that suits is needed for Nichols. He's got ability but as always with strikers it's the hitting the back of the net that counts.

I think DC is on a bit of a mission here to prove he was right to sign him.

I think DC is on a bit of a mission here to prove he was right to sign him. Can you blame him, he's in a bit of a difficult position if he has to write off a £350K signing this summer. Problem for DC is unlike LJ last season TN never looks like scoring.

And in the meantime we are loosing out The only game he has started recently was against Rochdale which we won, not really lost out there? Wasn't there on Saturday but a few people said that the only reason Harrison was substituted was because he picked up a knock.

If someone was prepared to take Nichols I'd look to move him on already. Signing a goalscorer in the summer would be one of my top priorities.

Oh, so because he screwed up on this one signing we shouldn't trust him anymore despite, well, everything else. Also Mensah/Bennett are under the same level of scrutiny than Nichols. Is that what you're saying? Please, do correct me if I misread.

Tom Nichols is the best player at the club

I think technically Nichols is a good player and I can see all the reasons they bought him. Similar to Taylor in style, but it hasnt worked for him SO FAR.
If he had scored early in the season and hit the ground running we could be saying something different about him right now.
I wouodnt give up on him after one season, like some want to bin him now. If we did that for everyone, most of the the players that got us promoted would have been out the door at some point
