Nichols reminds me of Luke James I'm afraid. If anything James had more technical skill. Nicholls is just too lightweight and gets knocked off the ball easily. He didn't intentionally set up that goal against Rochdale, it was a crap header which fortunately fell to our player to score. I don't know who recommended him to DC, but for his league you need physical brutes to compete with the robust defenders we come up against. I think DC should admit defeat with Nicholls, move him on and never do business with f@cking Peterborough again. Yep, let's just flush £350K down the toilet and start again. He's 25k away from being our most expensive signing ever, I think it's already been flushed tbh

I would guess the size difference between Nichols and the snake is minimal, yet he managed to knock a few in for us Messi is little too but he’s determined so he sees off the challenges or wins a free kick. You don’t have to be big build but if your not you need to know how to take a shoulder stay on your feet and use the momentum of a big challenge against that player not let him knock you sideways. Taylor knew how to do that. Nichols hasn’t learned it yet that’s for sure.

Maybe just maybe Nichols is having the same coaching as Taylor had and will come good just like Taylor did after a season

It must be a better option than him costs us league points? It's almost like playing with 10 men when he's on the pitch, although it's baffling how we paid so much, perhaps SH misread DC's list and read "pay up to £50K" as "pay up to 350K??" hence why there was no money left for a DCM & LW.

If someone was prepared to take Nichols I'd look to move him on already. Signing a goalscorer in the summer would be one of my top priorities. If you were scouting for another club would you recommend him? No.

IMO, Matty Taylor was a tragic loss to our football club. Unfortunately Tom Nichols will not equal or surpass MT achievements at Rovers.

Best bet would be to scout Exeter City and see if there's a player we fancy and offer Nichols as part exchange. In a perfect world Stockey would be a target. Offer Nichols plus cash in the summer.

Looked out of his depth at the Wolves game, hardly had a touch,a match in which the team as a whole were excellent,Bola and Parts especially.Last time I saw Telford play.

I would not be surprised if City want to move him on in the summer but I doubt if he will want a permanent move given the wages he's on. A loan is likely IMO and I could see interest from Swindon if they got promotion. May have burnt bridges at the Mem and Oxford.

Nah come on TN has fluffed one on ones. Taylor did the same for a while. Taylor got a ridiculous amount of chances each game and more often than not he would put one, two or three away, he also created many for himself and got himself in the right areas, I understand people want to back Nichols but he just isn't good enough. One thing to remember - we are comparing Taylor in The Conf with Nichols in L1. However, forgetting goals or no goals, I still can't see any improvement in Nichols' game since August. With Taylor yes he was missing some sitters but his all -round game was improving rapidly through the season.

I've always liked Lee Holmes too, but isn't getting any younger, hasn't really pulled up any trees this season and is out of contract at the end of the season anyway.

Agreed Holmes not really come back strongly from the ankle injury last year and age not on his side.

.... I was stood behind the Gas dugout at the Wimbledon game on Saturday. Had a good view for the whole game and I was surprised how small Nichols is.He was laughing and joking around with the others subs, not a care in the world. Not strong enough to muscle other players on or off the ball, needs too much time when he gets the ball. If I was in his shoes I would be utterly embarrassed at contributing nothing this season. A big zero, in terms of goals or assists. He should hang his head in shame... ( that thing sadly lacking nowadays ). When he was warming up, not a hint of " need to work my ass off and bang one in , hundreds of gasheads twenty feet behind me ". ( His hair was all sorted though !! ) Say what you like but Matty Taylor was a classy player, read the game well, half a chance and he scored. We have NOT replaced him, end of.

I really hope Tom Nichols comes good. I think D.C. needs to play him through the middle, give him a run as a forward, playing out wide and coming off the bench, is not helping Tom. Certainly does not work playing Tom alongside gaffers.

I was a big fan of Taylor and one of those who was behind him even when he wasn't scoring but even in his prime with us, Taylor needed 3 or 4 chances to net a goal. Half a chance.....? Good one. Trololol Never let the facts get in the way of the truth, MT was a very good Div 1 striker when he departed. If he did need 3 or 4 chances to score he must have been a damn sight better than TN at creating chances for himself as we're lucky if TN gets one chance a game.
