DC won't hang around long if we don't back him. I’m confused .... a while back you were saying we didn’t need to spend anything ion strikers as there were plenty available for free. We should look to the Spanish etc div 2/3 for the solution. Don't be confused, it's quite simple really...all of those I was thinking about have already been snapped up this summer. There are good ones still available on frees, but only really ones I would want to sign for the U23s and look to integrate in the first team over the next year or two. The likes of Franklyn Akammadu and Valdrin Mustafa. What we need now is two strikers that are first team ready for League One football and DC needs to be backed to sign the targets he wants.

The club seems to have a number of highly positioned "white collar employees" but we do not have a striker over 6 feet tall. Last season the clubs highest white collar employee said the Rovers had a top six budget, a statement generally regarded as inaccurate, this season the ticket prices have gone up and we still seem unable to sign a quality 6 foot plus striker, though the club appears to have no trouble selling strikers. Action is needed right now.

I thought DC said from day 1 that he wouldn’t be spending silly money on wages/fees/transfers, people complained when we did it before and it ended up giving us a reputation where we pay silly wages on silly players.
Now people want us to get desperate and start doing it again?
How do you know DC isn’t being backed?
Actually forget it, carry on with your meltdowns 🤦🏼♂️

I agree that this is concerning but also I suspect that DCs comments have been over analysed a bit.
He implied that he’s close to one. Let’s wait and see. I suspect we’ll be happy with the squad, once the window is closed.

When have Rovers ever secured a marquee signing?
In respect of strikers, we’ve done what the vast majority of clubs at our level have done and unearthed and developed our own.
DC hinted at the problem with signing proven strikers, they are out of our budget with FFP and everyone else wants them too, including clubs a division up.
Some fans need a reality check.

Unless it's smoke and mirrors this is extremely poor. Preparing to fail.

Wasnt Nichols one? I for one still trust DC to sign a striker this week. In DC we trust and on that basis it doesnt need to be a marquee signing. the owners are making improvements which should be appreciated but were they do fall horribly wrong on is the water poor communication to the fans. Some will say that no news is not worth communicating but the current situation urgently needs clarification. If DC is in the same situation, god help us

They've already rejected bids of £750k anyway.

Crazy money being chucked around these days. WBA after Jack Stacey for over 1 million following a very good L2 season

Or it demonstrates a differing opinion on what constitutes a marquee signing. To me its paying good money for a competitors top player, who that competitor doesn't want to lose.

Imo- no marquee signings means we’re not signing players that aren’t for sale.
Elis wasn’t for sale, but the money offered combined with salary the player will recieve means he was sold. Ipswich had enough pull, for them- it was shooting fish in a barrel.
We will only sign players that are either for sale, or affectively for sale. I would guess that his comments are in response to newspaper articles suggesting we were in for Doidge. Hes clearly not for sale. A “Cole” could be for sale. I’m not sure we need to write off the season yet.
