Not too sure why the owners are picking up the blame for this cock up. The player had agreed terms (?), had spent much of Friday talking, travelled with the team on Saturday. Why wasn’t it completed then, why wait until Monday? If the player was hesitating then it should have ended then. Don’t feel this can be laid at the owners door. The management within the club need to take the responsibility for this. UTG!

Issues with arranging a medical apparently, was that down to the player messing us about/having second thoughts, or the club messing him about in delaying arranging the medical, given he was in Bristol you sense the latter perhaps the doc wanted payment upfront!!

We’ve sold our best player and only two consistent goal scorers, and wasted all summer when we could’ve got replacements in. That’s why they’re picking up the blame

The latest from the post:
“We’ve just heard that Coventry City look set to win the race to sign Amadou Bakayoko.
It’s understood that the striker has been down in Coventry for talks today and a deal is now very close.
Rovers had been thought to be close to signing Bakayoko but the deal appears to have collapsed.”
Looks like the rumours were true, very disappointing.

I’m talking about the situation on Friday and Saturday when everything appeared agreed. Perhaps toppers correct over the medical. Not sure that can be laid at the owners door. That was my point. UTG!

They're approached by their staff who recommend a player, ok a monetary figure and if it works out, sign the cheque? Why you think a player not signing is Waels fault is beyond me.

Believe whatever you like, ultimately the signings of any football club come down to the owner. Just look at the Peterborough and Villa owners Twitter if you really think they have such little involvement

The owners take advice from the Manager, Scout, Physio, Trainers, and if it's within budget and they can afford it, write the cheque. How is a player not signing the Boards fault?

So your telling me if we went to Bakayoko’s agent right now and said we’ll pay you 25% more than our original offer he’d still go to Coventry?

But I wouldn't trust the post. It's obvious he would go there for talks, so that does not mean he will agree terms with them.

The pot of available players gets less and less as the transfer window gets close to deadline, add to that we seem to have a very small budget for transfer fees and won't pay the level of wages players and their agents expect make me think we will struggle to "get better elsewhere". Unless you mean we wait until January?

I just don't believe it's loco or no one.

Plus, like o2b says, we can loan til the end of Aug. and just make it a "Loan" that becomes perm in the Jan window... everything sorted, see...

If we got a loanee with a right to buy we would still have to negotiate and agree to a set fee. If the owners are not willing to pay the fees required for the ones at the top of DC's list now then they won't sanction that same fee in January would they? If we got a loanee with no right to buy agreed and the loanee did well we would just be helping the current club to put their asset in the shop window. When we got Rory from Cambs on loan was it not the case we could have him for free but when he started banging in goals they suddenly demanded a fee? Far better if we did our business early and got permanent signings made. IMO loans should be squad fillers and not a desperate last minute way to build a forward line.
