So your telling me if we went to Bakayoko’s agent right now and said we’ll pay you 25% more than our original offer he’d still go to Coventry? So now we should enter a bidding war for someone that no one wants? I used to get frustrated by this forum but it's turning into a right laugh! I laugh at the fact we’ve sold our only two goal scorers without replacing them. If DC and TW have identified Bakayoko as the answer then the board should be doing all they can to sign him - they really shouldn’t (and I doubt they do) give a sh** about what the fans think of any potential transfer targets. Regardless, this should’ve been dealt with along time ago and we shouldn’t even be in a position where Coventry can hijack the deal.

If you aren’t open for discussion on the football clubs transfer comings and goings over the summer I really think a forum is the wrong place for you.
People are allowed to be frustrated and voice their opinions - just as our manager is at every opportunity in the press.

Since then it seems Bakayoko has become available.

Edit - We actually shouldn’t have allowed Gaffney to leave until we had a replacement in for him and Ellis. That’s how any well run club would do it.

The board are to blame - based on market value we have sold BB, RG and EH for peanuts .... Then water and moan that clubs and players want fees and wages... is that as serious argument ?? We should have held out for 1m plus for BB and EH and if this clown from Walsall is 200K then RG is 300K plus. That is the market not personal opinion on the player or his bloody contract length. If Wale wanted to push this club forward he would have maybe pushed the above and several weeks ago put a 650K offer in for Devante Cole ..and accept striker earn more cash than other positions but no bloody 150K for this guys with a goal scoring record only LJ and TN would be proud of. Love the Gas and would watch them no matter what but the board have been utter shambles in this part of the business. Match day experience phhh players and a good team is bloody big part of that. UTG

We wouldn't do that because that would exceed our budget. Why are you not getting this? Why are you blaming the Board for him not signing? Dear lord this is hard work. Who dictates our budget? THE BOARD. Yea, and if we don't have the money, we can't buy can we? The budget was set, DC is adhering to it. I suppose if we looked at a player who was up for sal........I can't be bothered. Blame the Board, just continue to blame the Board.

Great point about the budget - however my only point, was the budget set pre RG and EH being sold ? and why did the board sell them at such a low cost ? Compared to what other clubs want for their players

As for when the budget was set, you'll have to ask Wael.

Some yeah and some no, but the no's kept their best players.... doesn't matter league position a players has a value (match it or we will keep him)... just trying to discuss is all mate ... and that is where Wael comes under fire - smoke and mirrors... and a unhappy manager at the mo...

I used to get frustrated by this forum but it's turning into a right laugh! no f**k him,he’s lucky a club is interested with his record Desperation signing all along,6 4” but wallsall fans saying he can’t head the ball I quite liked gaffers but his heading was shocking, including a miss against D&R that would have meant we never had that Lee brown moment You rarely get complete players at this level & when they're close they get snapped up elsewhere.

There are loan options. That window stays open longer. You can do a loan deal that is effect a transfer with options to buy at the end of it. I just don't believe it's loco or no one. This is exactly right. There will be plenty of options - Jamie Cureton was a loan to buy when we initially had him. Plus, like o2b says, we can loan til the end of Aug. and just make it a "Loan" that becomes perm in the Jan window... everything sorted, see... Not a good example to use though. JC didnt even know about the buy clause. He wanted to stay at Norwich. Came to us on loan to try to impress the canaries, plus obvious linkages to Bristol sweetened it. Did so well we said we want to buy him & after a bit of squirming from canaries who wished they'd not made that agreement, we signed him mid season. That obviously wouldn't be allowed today.

"I've been preaching for a long while now. Until this club gets a proper infrastructure, the pressure is on to get that." "It's difficult to keep moving forward, that's got to be the case. I feel like I am under massive pressure, I put myself under intense pressure to get results - that's how it should be. "People should be under intense pressure to make sure they get things moving off the pitch." "We've got the [under] 21's training on a council patch and we've got the youth team training on facilities that are under water now. "We've got to put it all together haven't we? Because you look at the clubs at League One level - Fleetwood have a £7m training complex, Bury - bottom of the league - but training on Man City's old training ground." "We're 30 years behind the times and I'm sick of saying it."

I am sure he gets annoyed by things, but at the same time he has been given extra tools to work and has been happy.
if we know anything about DC he is a moody so and so

Bristol Rovers is obviously a club with no money, no ambition, unsupportive, ready for sale. He must lack ambition to hang around at a club that is going nowhere. If he had any self respect he would leave and get a job at a proper club with multi millionaire owners who can afford to throw money around for short term gain to please the fans who expect nothing less.

I get the feeling that all is not good within our club at the moment. And now I fear that we are going to struggle this season and we will be in a relegation fight. If results don't go our way and the team struggles, I can see us looking for a new manager sometime in the new year if not before. The board has got to back DC or they risk losing the manager and fans!

As for "throw money around for short term gain to please the fans who expect nothing less", in not one of those, but I do expect a decent amount of the close to £1 million we've received this to be reinvested back into the team to give us and DC the best possible chance of competing.

Why do people have to go to extremes. If DC left he would be unemployed. I'm sure plenty of people work in jobs where they get frustrated with things that go on and unhappy about them but they also know their job pays the bills.
I think he would be much more likely to leave if an offer came in than he would of 2 years ago.

It seems that we’re receiving the Ellis fee in instalments, so it’s likely that only £200-250,000 of the £750,000 is in our account right now (plus the Gaffney fee, of course). And as we know, our owners don’t top up the manager’s budget. So that’s what he has to play with.
