Its cost us two points today ..... Some times in life you have to speculate to accumulate (goals/points!)

We just aren't creating enough. Not so sure, I no longer believe the supply is the issue. Taylor and Cunnington had plenty of chances today. Apart from squaring it to either of them a yard from goal, I'm not sure what more can be done.

Taylor has missed clear cut chances in most games now, Ive been wondering for a while now if white or Harrison would be putting them away, someone else needs to be given a chance now

We just aren't creating enough. Disagree strongly. Up till around a month ago I would have agreed but it's not the case now. I take my hat off to Matt Taylor for his work rate but he could have played till midnight and not scored, if he takes that 1 on 1 it's game over 3 points in the bag, he's missed too many now for it to be bad luck, or some you score some you don't. He has to be dropped, and White or Harrison needs a chance to become that goalscorer.

How many chances did our 4 midfielders create today?
How many of the chances our strikers have missed have come from long balls, and how many from well worked and well supported moves from midfield?
Cunnington and Taylor still look very isolated up front imo.
All just opinions.
I'm frequently wrong. Or so I'm told.

Cunnington has 3 goals in 11, Taylor 1 in 12, White 0 in 3 starts, Harrison 2 in 1 start.
As DC does not want a new striker I think Harrison or White need a good run of games now alongside Cunnington.

I was thinking exactly this on my way out of the ground. Hayles or Roberts were both brilliant and making chances for themselves. It seems like a long time ago we last had someone that could do that.

Yeah the Holloway sides often had five defenders and then a couple of defenders in midfield (Pritchard / Thomson) a defensive midfielder and then the likes of Cureton and Roberts. I think the creativity from midfield can improve but ultimately we signed an overweight and injury prone striker on the basis of decent goalscoring when fit in the past and Taylor on the basis of 7 good games for Chester.
White should go out on loan and get fit, if he gets his fitness back he will score bucket loads. Taylor also needs to find some confidence as he couldnt score in Chasers at the moment.

I thought Ricky Miller looked sharp for Dover - as well as being a good pantomime villain. Is he the best Miller we've seen since Ishmael scored that hat-trick for West Brom in 2008? (Were we really in an FA Cup quarter-final or was it just my dream?)

I think you would struggle to find a striker capable of scoring 20-25 a season without a club or out of favour (and willing to come to us) in October. I think we need to stick with what we have until January and then re-assess the situation.
I'm a big big fan of Matty Taylor but his performances have dropped recently unfortunately. He's not a player that's going to bag you all of those goals but his movement and creativity open things up for others but in the last few games I've seen he's gone missing for large parts of the game. Cunnington looked very frustrated today, most of his flick ons were left when Taylor was running right and the partnership just didn't look there at all today, you could have picked two fans from the crowd and they'd have a similar understanding of eachother.
I want to like Ellis I really do, he puts in a solid performance then a few 'meh' games from him and it doesn't exactly fill you with confidence. We seem to create a few half-chances but don't have anyone capable of putting it in the back of the net. I'd like to see White given a go with Cunnington assuming he is up to speed fitness wise.

Strikers should score full on chances 70% of the time, half chances 20% , 1/4 chances 10% , worldly's once / twice a season .
Ours are full on 30%, half 10%, 1/4 3% , worldly's 0% ..... So far .
In my opinion of course .

I thought the chances were there today, but I don't know if it was blind panic, but it was the finishing/finaql ball that I thought cost us today.

Surely we can poach / out pay current employers ? That's what I mean by speculate to accumulate ...... For say 50k wages extra you could almost guarantee you'd be able to pinch a goal scoring striker . it would cost us far more not to in the long run

For say 50k wages extra you could almost guarantee you'd be able to pinch a goal scoring striker . it would cost us far more not to in the long run I agree to an extent, but these players would commend a transfer fee so it's not just topping up on wages, plus the window is closed currently so we are relying on free agents / loanees. We wouldn't be able to loan any of the players in this league who are doing well surely - so we'd be relying on players without a club (e.g. Balanta who's taking a number of weeks to get up to speed) or loanees (if Brunt is the calibre of player being loaned out to start for a league two club, I'd hate to think who we would get on loan goalscorer wise!). Taylor has shown before he can score in this league, White has shown he's got goals in him and Cunnington was 2nd top scorer in this league before. We have goal scorers, we just can't get them to score for us! We don't have a particular creative midfielder, but we do seem to stumble into a fair few chances over the course of 90 minutes. It's about forming partnerships IMO, I love watching Taylor's link up play, I love having a player like Cunnington who wins the majority of aerial battles, but it's just unfortunate that these things don't click and come off at the moment. I don't think this is something that is going to come from signing another striker, more so about finding the right partnership of players which I'm sure we already have.

Fellow Gasheads, i need to put my hands up on this one. I sat with Hugo second half, with 2 minutes to go i said proudly "We're gonna win after winning the manager of the month award" less than 10 seconds later Dover scored! I unreservedly apologise, what was i thinking!
