Fellow Gasheads, i need to put my hands up on this one. I sat with Hugo second half, with 2 minutes to go i said proudly "We're gonna win after winning the manager of the month award" less than 10 seconds later Dover scored! I unreservedly apologise, what was i thinking! Its a true story! If it helps, I punched him in the bollocks on all of your behalf.

I agree to an extent, but these players would commend a transfer fee so it's not just topping up on wages, plus the window is closed currently so we are relying on free agents / loanees. We wouldn't be able to loan any of the players in this league who are doing well surely - so we'd be relying on players without a club (e.g. Balanta who's taking a number of weeks to get up to speed) or loanees (if Brunt is the calibre of player being loaned out to start for a league two club, I'd hate to think who we would get on loan goalscorer wise!). Taylor has shown before he can score in this league, White has shown he's got goals in him and Cunnington was 2nd top scorer in this league before. We have goal scorers, we just can't get them to score for us! We don't have a particular creative midfielder, but we do seem to stumble into a fair few chances over the course of 90 minutes. It's about forming partnerships IMO, I love watching Taylor's link up play, I love having a player like Cunnington who wins the majority of aerial battles, but it's just unfortunate that these things don't click and come off at the moment. I don't think this is something that is going to come from signing another striker, more so about finding the right partnership of players which I'm sure we already have. Yep agreed mate with what you're saying , that's why I started thread saying as things stand it'll cost us promotion. The transfer window is our window to make or break our season .

I'm probably being naive but with each game I'm just hoping something is gonna click and both of our strikers get a goal or 2 each and we put a team to the sword, but we don't like to make it easy for ourselves do we? I'll keep waiting, hopefully it'll happen before January but I definitely agree with you at the moment.

I am a big fan of Taylor i think he has great control and movement and a good football brain. He will come good for us this season, and easily score well into double figures,we just got to stick by him.We had enough chances to win today and on another day we would have, but you cant win them all. The most important thing is we never lost. We are seven games unbeaten and overall our play is miles better than anything we served up last season. Some people on here need to get a grip, it's frigging October and we got 30 odd games left.

People are only saying we need another striker. We only have 3 out and out strikers. Ones unfit , ones only here on loan and the other struggling for goals. Its the missing piece of an improving jigsaw thats all.

Whoosh Don't worry Yatton - I think your comments have been constructive it's just that some people get defensive/ narky if you suggest new signings ! Brunt has gone out so it shows clubs can sign players on loan if they want to - we have now scored 17 in 14 games - that ratio will not get us up this season !

I'd say that is very debatable and we were in a higher division last season. What aspects of our game today impressed you today MoS ?

We are playing as a team this season, last season we were not. All these player's are busting a gut to do well and i know we lack a bit of Quality in certain area's,but look at the budget DC has had available to him. We had an extremely tiring game on Tuesday, maybe it caught up with us a bit in the end, but saying that, we were still very unfortunate not to win the match today.

Don't forget Dover also played on Tuesday and they are a part-time outfit I believe !? Thanks for your reply by the way.

I was feeling a bit bitter when the equaliser went in because I just bloody KNEW we'd pay the price for those missed chances and then when you get so close to the final whistle you start to hope you might just get away with it... Then they score and it's like watching some hideous disaster in slo-mo on silent film: thousands of people stonily staring at a little gaggle of distant, ecstatic redshirts racing about, dancing and hugging and not caring in the slightest that they've totally ruined everything. I had a bit of a rant at someone at the bus-stop on the Filton Road on the way back to the car. He agreed, but probably thought I was mad. I suppose it all depends what you mean by "unfortunate". We had plenty of chances and any one of them might have won it for us, but ultimately, it's the players' job to stick one of them away. Ho-hum, we go again on Tuesday.

The problem is not really just the fact that Matty Taylor missed the chance but the fact that he seems to me to be a striker who enjoys doing all the other things more than scoring goals ie most of his natural movement seems to involve moving AWAY from goal and not getting in there. I would also say that whilst we are at the moment relatively successful we are not up to the standard of our few "better" performances last season ie Plymouth, Portsmouth,Newport at home. I do not see the naturally creative player in midfield but instead hard working players ala Sinclair,Clarke and Mansell. That is not a criticism of any of those players but IMO is a fact. Martin and Gosling are typical wingers ie inconsistent and I feel we still need a right winger with a bit of pace. Of course we still have Balanta to see. I agree with whoever said that we have to wait to January and then the only way to get the striker we need IMO will be to make an offer for one. Until then we have the option to give either White or Harrison an extended run alongside Cunnington. What did surprise me yesterday was that when we brought on Monkhouse I actually thought that Daryl had seen that we were missing the physical presence of Cunnington and would put Monkhouse up front which is what he did at Lincoln. The other option was to play Matty AND Harrison together and close to each other on the last men. It is annoying to watch other Conference sides like Woking who IMO looked nowhere near as good as us scoring 5 at Southport when we have not looked like scoring many goals at all.

Cunnington has 3 goals in 11, Taylor 1 in 12, White 0 in 3 starts, Harrison 2 in 1 start. As DC does not want a new striker I think Harrison or White need a good run of games now alongside Cunnington.

When he came on today he created some excellent chances and the game should have been wrapped up. Time to put Ellis up front.
