I wonder if they have kept the planning permission for the South Stand up to date?

It’s never ever straight forward is it. The new family stand is an eye-sore anyway and screams tinpot. Hopefully this will all be resolved by the weekend as we will have some disgruntled punters if not.

I’m surprised the South West Stand was granted a safety certificate as there are no speakers in there. Not that I’m bothered about hearing the bing bong man, I would just like to hear the 50/50 winning ticket number.

Rovers have said this though haven't they and are saying they have worked with the council along the way.
the structures are not some secret things that have suddenly appeared over night
They might have worked with the safety certificate department but not the planners. Ok perhaps the two council departments should communicate but planning permission would be required for a temporary structure just as it is for the south stand. I know this as I have been involved in gaining that permission in the past. only going by what is said in the article
The club worked with all the relevant authorities, including Bristol City Council, on its plans, and said it was agreed they would first put up the stands as temporary structures and then apply for planning permission once they were up.

Sounds like a cockup by the council with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.... or the Greens are just putting their smelly fingers in Agree with this. Sounds like council have NFI what they're doing. Perhaps we have NFI what we are doing. All will be clear soon, but Planners have little or no interest in sporting matters within Bristol so won't do us any favours.

I was going to say "you couldn't make it up", but this is Rovers after all. But on this forum isn't that the general idea, just to make it up in the absence of fact?

That quote simply said the dialogue included Bristol City Council. If you talk about your rates to Pest Control you ain't talking to the right people, so maybe the club engaged with Building Control and not Development Control. If so, for once, not the Council's fault.

Rovers even say the head of the SAG is on the planning committee so what were they doing along the way if we were talking to the wrong people?

The world is full of it isn't it?
Bristol City Council have given us planning permission for everything we've asked for including redeveloped North and East Stands, a whole new ground development to include student flats and even a supermarket to enable us to move grounds. No one is to blame for our sorry facilities other than the various people who have run the club.

Agreed mate but there are different sections within the Planning Department and whoever was contacted may have assumed the club was engaging with all relevant sections. I wouldn't expect lateral thought as a given at the Council so a simple " Have you spoken to ?" as a prompt isn't guaranteed. The other thing is officers and elected members don't always love each other so SAG committee membership won't cut any ice if protocols have been breached, and of course, most committee members know nothing like as much as the council professional officer.

If the Council has advised the Club not to use the tents it would be silly to do otherwise. They could make things very difficult - flouting planning regulations (and the Council hold the cards - whether the Club agree or not) could be pretty disastrous.

They will probably end up getting looked at today or tomorrow and passed off.
Don't particularly trust the Post to do much other than rake up sh**.

Perhaps they saw Vaughan's petition and thought they would do us a favour?

But the South West stand is not really a "new" stand as it's been in place for the two(?) previous season all be it a slightly different build, why haven't they queried that stand before now, or at least when the new stand was constructed at the start of the season? Although if we need pp then why have we built them and sold s/t's anyway, as there's always the danger pp will now be refused.
The question is do we have a safety cert or not for the stands if not then we'll have no insurance so there's no way we can use them regardless what the club suggests.
