Thing is wael knows our value is less if we get relegated, and often clubs then struggle the following season so it is imperative that we find some scoring strikers. Question: Is it better to be near the top of Div 2, or near the bottom of Div 1? Bigger teams in League 1 so more revenue having said that more local games swindle Newport, Yeovile. if our aim is the championship then we want to stay up, consolidate next year and go for it the following season, the only way we can do it is through the development team, as can’t see a knight in shining armour Mr YTL taking us over and money no object, more like Arkwright 😂

Could be a cunning 'baldrick' type plan to stop other clubs pushing prices up or players/agents asking for inflated wages.
I've spoken to other fans who were under the impression we were swimming in money since the Wael takeover. If this thread statement is true we are more like swimming in sh**.

Higgs and co always found money for players when it was needed (just ask jeff Hughes) which in many ways it seems the fans want more than improved facilities given the choice as the league position is where the buck ultimately stops with the state of the club. Let's see how much cash DS finds down the back of the sofa in January to make a statement of intent about keeping us up. I won't be expecting much... Thing is wael knows our value is less if we get relegated, and often clubs then struggle the following season so it is imperative that we find some scoring strikers. The painful irony is I genuinely believe Nichols would score goals in L2... *puts down 19th beer of the day*

As a fan, I much prefer watching us in L2.
It’s a level we can financially compete at and, because of that, there’s a genuine chance of a promotion push each season (although it obviously doesn’t always work out that way!).
L1 bores me. We lose a lot and the best we can hope for is survival.
Joy!

Well Jakubiak can go back where he came from, that’s 1 out for one in Isn't Bonham's loan up in January? The way he's playing I'm sure there will be interest apart from us for him. So that's probably 2 out. m Jesus what the hell are we gonna do then.. I feel like we’re relegated already

Sunderland away or Sutton away, any fan just wants to see their team win more than lose.

I actually don't hate anyone, but you cannot defend a manager who has put together a very poor squad AND has spent his limit on doing so Well you defended Paul Trollope to the death and he buggered up big time once Lawrence let go of his hand. Big wages paid to worthless players, a squad overloaded with midfielders to boot. The difference is? They scored goals

No, he's on a year, but as I understand it, they can un-loan him at any time. OK thanks, I had it in my head for some reason that it was up in January. Fingers crossed they don't recall him, we could be really fu#ked if they do. Someone could buy him, but not us

I'm not sure where Upson is supposed to fit in, I assume as Lines replacement but even when he's MotM DC still reverts back to Lines! Although Upson seems more a DCM than a creative CM. Agreed long term I can see him replacing Lines. I was surprised we signed him and when we did, I thought he might be moving Lines on. Exeter? Promotions? When was that?

There are a couple of players now who remind me of players from them days, Proberbly on half the money but still a sad excuse for a footballer.

With the development squad, as many coaches as great western, and a pitch looking like an ironed subutteo mat he has had more than any other manager I can think of. Whilst I appreciate what he has done to the club the truth is I'd rather say goodbye than go down to division 2 where we could be for a number of years. If we even had half a decent stadium we could find new owners. Who wants to buy a club for say £18 million only to find it needs another £50 million for development.
Our biggest hope is that the BBC or some film maker wants to make a film about Stanley Mathews or someone from the past. We could rent them the ground as a set.

I have heard that they are going to do a re-make of the famous Ripping Yarns episode that featured Barnestoneworth United. The look of the Mem fits in with the timescale (1935).

You have to hold our owners to account regards the development squad and outlay surely? It’s All part of this evolution process I kept reading about.

His contract is up at the end of season, so no buying would be needed.

We lose a lot and the best we can hope for is survival. Joy! Inclined to agree with you to an extent. We're more likely to improve, sign better players, attract higher attendances and the like in L1, however, the occasional 'big fish in the small pond' mantra isn't bad when we're winning games, scoring goals and enjoying watching our team - atm we're doing none of the those!! Wouldn't ever wish for relegation but I very much believe that sometimes it's a blessing in disguise for a lot of teams (2014 was horrible for us but was the catalyst for the success we've enjoyed since).
