When the going gets tough the tough gets going! Were not in the last chance saloon yet. But for the sake of confidence 3 pts is a must and Gc and the team have to be more positive at home!

Got to play either lines or sercombe in the middle , that’s essential. If he goes two ball winners then it’ll be Wycombe / Sunderland all over again and we’re as good as down. If it’s sercombe then either Nichols HD or Mathews on the left. We have got options there. I still think we’re 50/50 stay up go down but if we lose at home again Saturday it’ll feel more like 25/75

Whoever we play from now on we’ve got to give ourselves a chance of creating chances and scoring goals and to do that Lines or Sercombe or both (with a different formation) have to be central midfield alongside the ball winners. JCH alongside Nicholls would be my choice up front. Whoever GC selects he needs to give us a chance to win and look dangerous. It isn’t enough to keep it tight and hope we can snatch something esp at home. But tbf to GC he has always said that the football for the remainder of the season wouldn’t be pretty and that it would be all about grinding out results so I’m not totally convinced that we’ll see see too many changes. We’ve a game in hand, are in the last relegation spot after losing to a team who receives £34m parachute payments so I get being jarred off but it’s not all over. We’ve still a good chance to stay up, evens, if I was betting but we’ve got to give ourselves a chance and that means playing some creative players in midfield. UTG!

Hopefully GC appreciates to grind out results at home we need to put the ball in the net and we ain't going to do that unless we make some chances to score, V Burton, Wycombe, Shrewsbury & Sunderland we hardly ever troubled the opposition's goalie.

The truth is that at the moment we are playing no different at home than had we kept DC in charge. Its the same old let the opponents have the ball in their half and try (mostly unsuccessfully to win the ball back in our half. It doesn't matter if we are playing Wimbledon or Sunderland its the same old tripe. It is not that any of the midfield are incapable of being attacking players. They are doing what they are told to do. Lines is playing where he is told to play (when selected) so is Sercombe! Just because we have a big bloke up front it doesn't mean we have to hoof it up to him all the time but if we do then you have to get players forward to support him. In fact you may as well push four up front if you are just going to hoof and force their defenders to have to work. Tactically at home we are totally inept. GC said it wouldn't be pretty but the football at the moment is pathetic at home and will relegate us on about 45 points maximum. We don't HAVE to play this way and the quicker GC works it out the better.

We have 50% chance of relegation. Either we will. Or we won't. Simples! Have you ever considered a career in the betting industry? that would be amazing. All best evens as either you'll win the bet or lose it.

I think at home we've been paying to much respect to our visitors this season
we need to get control of centre mid and dictate the play so I would go 4-3-3 for the rest of the season
Bonham
parts locks tone THD
ogogo
lines Sercs
rodders JCH Nichols
with parts & THD being able to provide the width playing Sercs in a more central role
being able to switch back to a 442 to protect a lead if necessary

I believe that the Gas will survive the drop with a game in hand, but what ive seen this season, apart from a few exceptions the squad do try hard but the quality is sadly missing, so they will limp home, but realistically not holding out much hope for next season,

THIS!!!
I don't think the players themselves believe they can win many of the games and that shows in the performance. Then it tends to be a containing job which is ok away from home, but you are the home team you have to force the issue and we don't have the players to do that successfully imo.

We will be fine. We will beat Sunderland on Tuesday (probably on a penalty shootout) go to wembley beat Portsmouth (probably on a penalty shootout).
Moral will improve, Nichols will hit a scoring streek with his new, big, target man partner.
Wow these pills are strong...............

In additon to Steve192 ‘s comment, a friend of mine told me on Monday after the Sunderland game that a close relation of his who is a regular first team player informed him that GC had instructed the players to hoof the ball forward to JCH at every opportunity. The team was divided by this lack of strategy from the manager causing doubt and confusion amongst some of them.

Couldn’t care less about the kiddies cup game , plus this ‘morale’ theory after winning a game in said cup is a load of garbage, as our league position shows . League status is the only thing that matters.

Maybe they are confused as this is the total opposite to the fast tika taka football we are used to seeing them play?

That could be the same person then , because my mrs best friends uncle , knows the lady in the club shop who is extremely close to a lady who works in a retail shop at the mall at cribs causeway, who’s son told her that an academy player heard one of the first team players complain about the lack of updated facilities, so he went to complain to the youth manager and whilst waiting to talk to the youth manager GC walked past and he was heard saying exactly what you heard.

If the players are confused by a simple commonplace instruction like hitting the big man early then there really is no hope for us! Bloody snobbish attitudes about playing long ball, its served warnock well in every league except the premier division. The problem with the sunderland game was that we didnt get players around the big man to make it effective.

When a player is used to playing like barcelona its not easy to suddenly play like rotherham!

With regards to oakbournegas and his somewhat farcical reply to my post it just confirmed what he posted on February 23rd @ 6.53pm. Perhaps his trip to cribs via club shop and training ground was really unnecessary after all.

Yet according to him it was just bad luck and the lads played their socks off, so expect more of the same crap tomorrow.
