Since GC has taken over we've been around/just short of play off form, so probably we don't need the reform that people want/crave. I also agree with axegas about Matthews, I'd keep him and loan him out. He's still only 22 and he certainly has some flair about him. He just isn't quite ready for L1 yet, but I reckon give him a year or 2 and he'll be a quality L1 player If he is not ready at 22 he never will be

There is no reason why a club of our size cannot get in to the top 6. Wit the exception of a crap ground we are roughly in terms of attendance the same as Rotherham; Burton and Doncaster. The problem we have had in the past few years are, keeping players when they weren't good enough and having a big squad of fairly average players. We need to shrink the squad to 22 at most, at the same time we need to improve. although we beat Bradford there were times when they outplayed us and that is because they have a good midfield including a couple of wide players. We need a midfield like that. One problem will be telling Payne we are cancelling his contract and how much money we are paying him.
Shame Clarke hasn't got another job in league 2 he could take a lot of players off our hands

What age did Jamie Vardy play his first game in the Football league? Why do clubs have U23 'Development' sides?

Taylor at 22: FGR in 5th division Vardy at 22: Stocksbridge Park Steels Lambert at 22: Stockport in L2 But sure, let's continue to write off young players, like we always do. Then moan when they go onto overtake us & we wonder why didn't we give them a chance? You couldn't make it up at times

Most of them would have been with a club since the age of 9. So after 13 years you say they are not ready. Guarantee Mathews wont be playing for us next season.

Taylor was released by Oxford at the age of 19 and then played for a couple of teams in the Southern League Division One South & West before moving to Forest Green, Lambert was released by Liverpool at the age of 15, Vardy was released by Sheffield Wednesday at 16. As I said, players develop at different rates.

Whenever Rollin has played for the 1st team he's looked good enough but how can he progress from the DS if we never give him some game time? As far as cancelling Payne's contract perhaps that just what he's hoping for as I assume he's still got another season, possibly two, to go which we'll have to pay him in full unless he will negotiate a deal, that could cost us £150K/£300K if we gave him a decent Div 1 contract far better to get another club to take him off our hands and we contribute towards his wages at his new club.

You honestly think footballers don’t improve after the age of 22? Unbelievable. I & pirate have already given you proof of that... No wonder we don’t bring many through our academy, people never support young players at Rovers - fans don’t give them a chance ffs

It beggars belief that LPGas was once a teacher with logic posted as above and quite a few other posts!

It beggars belief that LPGas was once a teacher with logic posted as above and quite a few other posts! I just don't think Mathews is good enough. Its like Nichols, is he suddenly going to start scoring when he is 27? Can we wait that long? I think Kelly has done well this season but Mathews is out on loan for a reason, he's not good enough to be in the team, and next year he wont be either. IMHO

Did you have professional help coming to that amazing conclusion?

Burton did it,Rotherham and Millwall also.Preston,Blackpool, Bournemouth (pre the USSR take over there😂) and even Yeovil have in recent years.
