I am probably going slightly against the flow here, but I would be happy to retain Daniel Leadbitter. He does have one raw ingredient that we are lacking- pace. Can he improve his first touch and crossing? Can he improve his awareness of what's going on around him? I think with some hard work he could still be a cracking right back even at the age of 28/29. What's his contract and injury status? sod that! Get a youngster with pace and on half the wages and work with somebody untried and untested! Better than flogging a dead horse mate!

We could attract crowds that rotherham would dream about, and Burton would cream about if we were in the championship, playing in a championship standard stadium.15 -20k a week, but unless a new stadium is ever built and that level of football delivered we will never be able to prove it But I agree, Ive never seen that size or state of the Mem given our fanbase size as a reason why we cannot get to the 2nd level.Ok staying there would be a problem due to the size and lack of non match day facilitys that we have at the Mem, but getting there from L1.. no.If we are finaced right, and managed correctly then its very possible. Burton did it,Rotherham and Millwall also.Preston,Blackpool, Bournemouth (pre the USSR take over there😂) and even Yeovil have in recent years. You're right. We could get there. But if we can't sustain it (and that would appear to be the general consensus), what's the point? Championship football for just a season or maybe two would probably put this club back even further as we spend money we haven't got trying to stay there. A case of one step forward and probably two or more back. The phrase has been misused and definitely abused of late, but this is what evolution not revolution is surely all about. Building slowly and progressing when we are ready to sustain that progression. Until the ground and, more importantly, the training facilities are improved, we are at the height of our sustainable level. Yeovil for example!

You need more than just pace alone to succeed as a professional footballer hence why Usain Bolt was largely unsuccessful in his endeavours to turn pro. Leads has served us well over the years and is a decent L2 level fullback but the problem is he is very injury prone, not a great defender and as you say needs to improve his first touch and crossing. If we can make room for us to get another RB, what's to say we can't get someone with pace and has a few more of the attributes necessary for the role? Michael Smith ? Would love him to come back. not sure how old he is now but if of the same level then I’d have him in a heart beat!

At the least a promotion season to remember, more money through bigger gates and maybe a few new fans along the way. We probably wouldn't be staying long in the championship as things stand, be a hell of ride getting there though. Would we get bigger gates in the Championship though? Or is it the case that people turn up in numbers to watch a winning team? Don't get me wrong. I'd be loving the ride as much as anyone. But deep down, there would be that feeling that it couls do us more harm than good at the moment. Bloody frustrating, but that's our reality, in my opinion. Meant bigger gates during the promotion season, i would imagine 10,000 + on regular occasions in the Championship. I know you're probably right but i've seen us win promotion five times in fifty odd years, they don't happen often. What if GC gets us in the play offs, i know you would want us to win them if possible. Meant make us a more attractive club to investors.

Me personally, no I wouldn't keep Leadbitter. He's been a good player over the years and 2016-17 he was fantastic, but last season he was awful and this season he's been injured. If there were telltale signs that he could perform at a top level I'd be all for it but whenever he plays he looks a liability. I used to be a massive fan of Partington, but he's been awful this season too.
P.S. weird suggesting for a striker, but would anyone consider Ian Henderson? He's very old yes but I think for a good 1-2 year period he could be great for us, plus he's scored 10+ in League 1 for 5 years consecutively. I wouldn't mind getting him assuming Rochdale go down and playing him for a few years just to try and ensure League 1 safety for that time.

Henderson is a class act, but the problem might be convincing him to move this far south for a 1-2 year period if his family is settled up north. He also recently said he is targeting the goalscoring record at the club: “The next target, that everyone knows about, is to become all-time leading goal scorer for the Football Club. I have another year to run on my contract after this one, and there’s no doubt that will happen."

Bristol Rovers player Bennett was one of three additions made by Wellens on the final day of the January transfer window – the other two being Cameron McGilp and striker Theo Robinson. The 28-year-old joined on loan from Rovers until the end of the season, but Wellens hinted he may be keen to extend his stay at SN1 further after being impressed by his performance levels in his 11 appearances for Town to date. Robinson’s County Ground future appears a little vaguer, though, with the Town boss simply stating the 30-year-old is not his player. Wellens said: “I’ve known Kyle for a long time, I know what a good footballer he is. “He wanted to get that spark going, because sometimes players don’t quite fit into a certain team system. “Kyle wants to get on the ball and make things happen. I wanted to get his love of football back, and I think I’ve done that. “We’ll revisit him in the summer and see if we can keep him because I think everyone will agree that he has been a great addition to the squad.” With Town’s play-off hopes looking increasingly unlikely to turn into reality – and with only four League Two fixtures remaining – Wellens is starting to turn one eye onto his recruitment over the summer months. He plans to recruit players that will complement his current squad, and said replicating the club’s hefty turnover from last summer – which saw former boss Phil Brown add 10 players to the club – is not something he plans on doing. He added: “Recruitment is going to be the most important thing over the summer. “We have got the basis of a really good team so now can we recruit the right characters and the right players to come in and complement the players we have got and have a real good go next season. “In parts, both home and away, we have shown we are a really strong team and I believe we can be even better next season. “Can we get the right players in, people that fit into our system and also be good in the dressing room. “Over the last couple of years, I don’t think the club has had that and if you haven’t got good characters in the dressing room, you aren’t going to breed success. “Good players get you promotion and success but good characters keep you there.”

I've only seen four of those promotions and yes, I'd be loving every minute! Mind you, GC may need to pick a creative player or two to finish top half, never mind in the play offs!

H'mm don't think that's going to happen. Maybe a return to Dover but we will have to pay up his contract

11 league games. Not good enough really, and with the amount of players that will be available in the summer there are bound to be better options who can offer more.
Didn't we think that when we released Monty then Moore! If it came to a choice I'd take an injury free Leads over Parts, who really seems to have lost his way this season. Not sure it would be a wise move to just release Leads, Parts, Sincs, Lines & Sercs as that's a lot of Rovers experience lost from the changing room.
Sure, but that was down to poor recruitment last summer which most of us agreed.
Leads always seems to have injury issues. I'd rather have Parts who is usually available than Leads who usually isn't.
Ideally we'd get someone else in better than both of them but that again is down to recruitment rather than lack of available transfer options.

If we stay up, let Bennett go. If we do go down though, he's clearly a top L2 winger - so I'd keep him

He's had an awful season for us, no argument there, but I wonder if we're gerting rid of a player who can, on his day, be very creative. And we could certainly do with some of that.

What I do find quite amusing and one of my biggest critiques of DC has been Ryan Broom. Apparently playing at a very high level at Cheltenham and would have been perfect in the situation we are in now with only one winger.
