Was a little bit annoyed with the interview of gc today. Reason being I think Chris lines (if rumours of him being released are true) deserves a proper send off Saturday. Wether he likes him or not he’s a Bristol lad and deserves a send off from the fans for what he has done for this football club over the years. And talk of being faithful to journey men like Ed Upson who was relegated last year and nearly relegated with us this year and let’s face it hardly shone up in this league would be more worthy of a place Saturday is utter nonsense.
Thanks for the memories Chris

What's wrong with having a testimonial?

What's wrong with having a testimonial? What’s wrong with playing him Saturday? What kind of message does that send out? Just dishing out appearances to try and get to 500 caps? It's a good opportunity to say to the rest of the team, look. You don't get in the team for the sake of it. Also what are we going to learn from Lines playing? I would rather see a youngster play. If it is Lines' s last game, let him do a lap of honour etc and sort out a testimonial for him.

Utter cock if he doesn’t play him on Saturday. His exclusion from the team is an absolute joke.

Regardless of any sentiment Lines should have featured lots more in the past six months in a midfield that has been devoid of any creativity. Hearing GC say he wants more size and pace for next season suggests it will be a while until we see a player with Linesy's skills again.

I actually think THD is a better footballer than Linesy, needs to improve the defensive side of his game a bit it may be argued but it's always exciting when he gets the ball, full of tricks and creativity.

The 500 game thing is a red herring. He’s not retiring. He’ll go past that mark, which is not just for Rovers, it’s over his full career.
I do agree he should get a send-off though. He’s been a fine player for us and will be hard to replace.

Perhaps Lines should refrain from backchatting supporters in the social media world & stop himself having to delete tantrum tweets, it may be a start to showing the right attitude in looking to get back into the side. Whatever the reason for his omission, throwing his dummy out & listing the contents of his trophy cabinet online certainly isn’t the way to go about changing that.
He’s served the club well but the last 18months have been littered with below average performances. The main highlights being the most ridiculous red card away at Fleetwood 12months ago and the infamous Pompey sub appearance. His showings under DC earlier this term, were nothing but dross. I don’t recall him having a single decent game, yet here are we listening to some make out that Iniesta in his prime is currently being left out. All the current bleating from some sections is purely a stick to beat GC with, nothing more.

There’s a lot going on in Lines’ life
Goes back to DC’s time
Not gonna spread rumours but I’ve heard a lot of things that may or may not be true
He’s been a great servsnt but there may be more to him not playing than GC being petulant

I hope the manager picks whatever team he thinks gives us the best chance of beating barnsley.

I’m not writing him off though.

Not sure who is right or even if it matters as he has been a great servant to the club and will/would be missed. If it is his last appearance, thanks Chris it has been much appreciated.

if t was 500 Rovers appearances I would say chuck him on for a couple of minutes at least. But it's not. He will move on and play for a season or 2 more and may even get 550 games
Give him a Testimonial and a proper send off in the summer

I'd love to give him a send-off tomorrow, even if it's just a rousing applause for coming on as an injury-time sub, but it won't be his 500th game tomorrow so that facet of the sentiment is null anyway. Great servant for the club and, as he'll apparently tell you himself, he's got a lot of success in his Rovers-related cabinet, but I'd rather see someone like Russe etc. get the game time instead if I'm honest.

Crikey Let Linesy do the Dam half time draw or something if people are that desperate

THD is also a terrific player but still in the early days of his career. Hard to compare players in different positions but might be easier to judge when THD has a few hundred games under his belt - I hope that's with us but I suspect if he stays fit he'll get fed up of being in a stagnant football club and move on to better things

The Iniesta comment is quite funny and clearly an exaggeration to make your point, however, you let yourself down by doing the same thing as those you criticise (but from the opposite end of the debate) by deriding him as useless and singling out the most negative parts of his season!

First half of season was his usual lazy crap self.
Second half of season he doesn’t play and we stay up. Others like Bennett and Broadbent decided to move on as they weren’t going to play. Neither moaned publically.
Both in my opinion had more to offer us now and in the future.
Move on, Lines is done, another piece of deadwood disposed of
