f**king idiot you know what I said you just dont have an answer. Came on here to see if there were any comments on England's game yesterday and first thing I see is this! Thought the rule was attack the post not the poster, very sad when some resort to this. Anyway for what it is worth I thought the England woman's world cup exactly mirrored the men's. A reasonable team found out as soon as it came up against decent teams. I thought they were a bit unlucky, to be honest. Gave away some poor goals in both games, but would have fought their way back comfortably in the pre-VAR era.

I thought we were lucky not to concede a few in everyone of our games. Just as you would expect, the better teams take their chances. Having said that the woman's game has come on leaps and bounds. As regards VAR, I can't wait to hear Pep and all his Premier League mates moaning about it. After all they were the ones calling for it, because the referees were not good enough.

I still don’t understand all the recrimination about VAR. I noticed yesterday comments (with no sense of irony) like “if only VAR hadn’t been invented, our goal which was definitely hand ball would have been given”. I guess it’s stating the obvious I suppose but it seems like people don’t want the right decision, only the one that suits them. Objectivity be damned.

You’re of the opinion folk without experience of a certain standard of football shouldn’t have an opinion on it. Flagrant hypocrisy posting on a League One clubs forum unless you’ve played in League One? f**king idiot you know what I said you just dont have an answer. Plenty of journalists that have never, ever played the game at any level are paid a reasonable wedge to analyse football, your point is just daft. The retort is even dafter.

And yet, I was complaining about VAR before any decisions went against England, and about decisions that went for England, and about decisions before the World Cup, so if you want to talk about objectivity, you should probably start with yourself. So when you talk about people making up their minds about the facts to suit themselves, you're actually talking about yourself.

I was referring specifically to the comment about “fighting their way back comfortably in the pre-VAR era”, which does suggest you are saying “if illegal goals were allowed then England would have won”. I know there have been some debatable points but that incident yesterday was blatantly handball no matter what speed you run the tape at. The fact the England player had the cheek to give verbals to the ref about it afterward was yet more indication that women have just as little respect for rules as men do.

I believe the ‘verbals’ stem from something called emotion. That tiny little barely relevant aspect of the game that FIFA/UEFA etc..are trying their hardest to do away with.

Lieke Martens and Vivianne Miedema will have to be bang on it to stand any chance. I reckon 3-1 to the yanks.

I can only speak for myself but when something hits my arm I kinda know that something has hit my arm. She might have arms made of metal maybe and therefore didn’t feel it and felt the need to protest in which case I take it back. Anyway, I’m not sure I buy the emotion argument. You don’t get back chat in rugby, does that mean they don’t care or they accept the ref’s decision? I could buy hassling of the ref pre-VAR but when the ref has a chance to see it again (and the player doesn’t) then surely players have to accept that a ref is better informed than ever to be able to make a decision? Of all the VAR decisions this World Cup that one looks the most cut and dried of all, she runs into the ball with her arm. She knows it yet still feels the need to give the ref lip!

Oh noes another VAR pen!!!111
For the record, I’ve got quite a few quid on the Dutch yet no complaints from me and absolutely right that the Dutch player was booked for complaining , as the England player should have been.
I think, ultimately, what people are upset about is that the dark arts of defending are going to be called out and it’s going to be harder for weaker sides to grind out results by parking the bus. But them’s the breaks. If you aren’t going to get there then don’t put a foot in, like the Dutch girl did today. She took a risk and paid the price. They’ll keep their foot down in future once they know the risks and it should be better for the game.

kEEPERS aRE rUBBISH iN wOMEN’S fOOTBALL I think it’s more the case that not enough are up to pro male standard. A 32 team women’s World Cup will be too much until goalkeeper standards of the weaker nations improve.

In all fairness, the majority of EFL keepers are barely up to ‘pro Male standard’. Very harsh. You’re referring to the likes of Conrad Logan. Even the likes of Slocombe and Smith merit a place in the lower reaches of the EFL. Goalkeeping is still a problem for the women’s game. There are some success stories in this World Cup, fair play. But the standard of the tournament will largely rest on it’s weakest members as they need bringing in to line

As an aside I hear more harping on about equality and equal pay from that Rapinoe character. The English WPL sides are actually *making a loss* and being funded by their male equivalents. Women’s football is desperately in search of Johnson, Hunt and Corbyn’s magic money tree. I wish them every success in finding it.

Well thats that, well done to yanks but cant say i warm to them ,arrogant in the extreme but i suppose such is the nature of 'champions'?have enjoyed the tournament ,has been a big learning curve for me and feel i understand and view the womans game in a much more enlightened way now, have enjoyed listening to Alex Scott and co,have enjoyed the less intense and less of the dark arts aspect, both on and off the field and hope the womans game goes on to prosper . As for England its same old ,like there male counterparts, perennial 1/4 semi finalist but can't make that last step to the top,Hope FIFA have learn't from the VAR experiment and they can iron out the flaws(but dont bank on it !)personally as it is now i would rather not have it and take the rough with the smooth as we always have, finally good luck to the new Gas girls and roll on 3/8 ,see you all at Bloomfield rd,accommodation booked ,lets go Rovers!!!

Ugh! Some serious re-writing of history on the BBC highlighting only the Cameroon v England game as one where sportsmanship was the loser. Never mind there was a clear case of diving in the final and instances of diving and backchat in countless other games. Alex Scott also saying that “it hasn’t been shoved down people’s throats (😂)” and “it’s not women’s football, it’s * football* of a very high standard” is just classic BBC trying to big up an IP that is just so niche that Sky won’t waste their scheduling on it.
Anyway, I’ve been quite negative about it so I’ll just add that the standard was actually alright, there were a number of watchable games (which surprised me). I just wish there was a way of watching it on some obscure channel so you could seek it out and watch it for it’s genuine merits rather than because the biggest broadcaster in the UK needed to go on a charm offensive to justify buying the rights. See you in four years....maybe.

The USWNT is more profitable than the men’s, the men get bigger pay from the US Federation. That’s her point. You ok mate?

I wasn't talking about the VAR I was talking about England being unlucky, and my reason that they were unlucky is that they were at a world cup where the VAR probably worked against them. That's nothing to do with whether I think they should have VAR, coz I have said a million times they shouldn't. If it was blatant, why did they need to run it through 50 times? And a similar thing happened today before the US penalty (the ball glanced off her elbow before she was fouled), and yet they didn't call the handball.
