Nothing new here. Talked about by GC at the time and even on Twentyman. Both out of contract and offered new ones. It's there perogative.if they want to sign them and stay.

12 months ago I’d have let James Clarke go but for me he would have been my player of the season out of those who were there for the whole term. He was more than good enough in 2018/19 for league one.

Yes he certainly has improved, but here is a question we will never know the answer to. Did DC pay these 2 too much, and now the club is paying them the going rate? Shame Nichols and Payne aren't at the end of their contracts

J.Clarke isn’t your extravagant modern day attacking wing back but I’d say he’s probably the most consistently solid performer we’ve got. To let someone go who was a lot of people’s vote for player of the season and who will not be on very big wages would just be ludicrous in my opinion.

Whilst Partington may not be a massive loss as I feel league one may be a higher level than he can compete at I would be sad to see Clarke leave. He may not be the most eye catching player we have but his consistency and versatility are a plus to BRFC

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see JC at Walsall. In his time with us I think he's been underrated and undervalued.

So we have probably offered him a contract on “not a lot of money” but maybe he wants more and GC doesn’t want to waste the extra money when he feels he’s not worthy of it. Hardly gonna spend his budget bumping up existing players contracts

Hardly gonna spend his budget bumping up existing players contracts He’s not exactly an eye catching player so I doubt any big League One/Championship clubs are going to be chasing his signature. The only way he’s going to go if he leaves us is horizontally or down the ladder. I can’t imagine he’s going to want to leave here, a club he knows well and is settled at, for a lower league club unless they offer more money. Which if they do, is quite poor on our part.

JC gives you 7/10 every week , always hard to replace a consistent performer
And Plymouth away , I think the Plymouth fans like him ..

Unless the owners have dramatically cut the wage bill why would they be able to offer him more than us, but if he wants to drop down to Div 2 then good luck to him. I guess we'll just have to trust GC's decisions if more 1st team players do leave this summer.

J Clarke is a must keep, good solid defender ffs Agreed , easily good enough for this level and can play anywhere across the back. One of our best players this season. Partington not so much. Dithers on the ball , switches off defensively and poor passing all season.
