James Clarke been offered a good contract, still negotiating and likely to sign. No no no! It's Gaschat fact that he has been offered £100 a week and his bus pass to the training ground.

hugo, You've hit the nail on the head. Loads on here will write anything to discredit the owners. Ok they haven't exactly produced a Stadium or a training ground but DC stirred a lot up ref budget etc as well as wasting most of what he did have. I will wait and see what we get in the way of new players before criticising. A mid to top 10 team would do me fine at this moment in time!!! Sometimes we have to be grateful for what we do have ie Bolton,Bury,Coventry.

All I know is this board gave him £600k for Mensah, Payne and Nichols with Bennett’s wages on top. The same board backed Cogs on JCH and his wages which Robins said were amazing. My posts are not about the ex manager, I think he had a half decent budget and I like you give the board the benefit of the doubt. If Payne, Mensah, Nichols and Bennett scored 15 goals between them last season we’d be mid table and the same man in charge running the team before his sacking.

Payne may come back and surprise us, although I have my doubts. Nichols; well we have had the "if he scores one more will come" for 2 seasons and now he has taken to fall over a lot too. Mensah, just a bad signing judging he didn't do a lot back at Aldershot (lets hope they go up next season!)

Spot on. Too many fans get obsessed about having someone they deem 'top six' material but on our budget, and for all teams at this level, you need good solid club men, reliable strong characters who are happy to be in a squad and won't rock the boat if they are not first choice. Sincs would be in the same bracket and should have been retained. Would be madness to let JC leave and I really hope he stays. I would allow Parts to leave and bring in a more attack minded right back with JC providing cover for that position and anywhere across the back four. So would you pay JC a starting 11 salary or pay the first choice RB that wage? JC's a good solid defender but we need THD's equivalent on the right if we're going to progress. If we losing £3m p.a. then already then good luck to him if he finds another Div 1 side who'll offer him a better contract. What's the point of keeping Sincs when he wants 1st team action, it's better for both to part rather than keep a frustrated player sat on the bench. We may find a THD equivalent in style but unlikely in terms of quality, we were lucky to get someone of his calibre and only managed to do so because of he was still rehabilitating from a major injury. We should be able to get a decent attacking right back without breaking the bank. Don't see why that couldn't be alongside JC who I can only guess would not be a huge earner? if Sincs wanted to be a first team starter and has publicly said so then I missed that, I only heard him say how gutted he was to be released

J.Clarke isn’t your extravagant modern day attacking wing back but I’d say he’s probably the most consistently solid performer we’ve got. To let someone go who was a lot of people’s vote for player of the season and who will not be on very big wages would just be ludicrous in my opinion. So we have probably offered him a contract on “not a lot of money” but maybe he wants more and GC doesn’t want to waste the extra money when he feels he’s not worthy of it. Hardly gonna spend his budget bumping up existing players contracts Not gonna get a more solid versatile player than JC for cheaper

Possibly stalling on matching whatever Walsall have been prepared to offer, if DC's carrying on paying over the odds for average players there's not much we can do about it.

Maybe DC is finding it easier ta sell Walsall as a club to a player than he was us?
