Not according to our manager who said on Twentyman he had been offered a new contract. How is that stalling? Possibly stalling on matching whatever Walsall have been prepared to offer, if DC's carrying on paying over the odds for average players there's not much we can do about it. Exactly let him get on with it. Can't see a huge list of clubs queueing up for James Clarke and don't see the need for us to enter a bidding war just to keep him.

Apparently someone saying it on FB, Rovers have been stalling so what's he supposed to do. I have not heard anything official. Not according to our manager who said on Twentyman he had been offered a new contract. How is that stalling?

imo if we want to do better than 4 points off relegation next season, we need to bring in better players than the limited James Clarke. A league 2 player, nothing more.

Along with Tony Craig for me James Clarke was in with a shout for player of the season.
Versatile, hard worker who gives 100%. Can fill in across the entire back 4 and is a model professional.
Will be very sad to see him go and genuinely shocked if he moves down a division to Walsall.
If he goes we’ll have a hard job replacing him with value for money.

How dare you have a reasoned response, he's either world class or a clogger. Nothing inbetween. If he goes anywhere else he's a money grabbing shitbag, scum, awful. If he stays here he's Baresi, Beckenbaur and van Dijk merged into one, absolutely complete defender. Either way I'm already excited for the hyperbole that surrounds James Clarke's new contract/departure.

I full except the argument about needing better than JC to move forward, but you still need to keep solid/dependable blokes like Clarke about even if they amount to just back up that can play anywhere in the back 4

Stop this nonsense, is he a Mercenary or Maldini?

Maybe DC is finding it easier ta sell Walsall as a club to a player than he was us? Or based on the way we have seen GC man manage his players compared to DC they would prefer to work with DC?

If JC would sooner DC's approach it seems a strange decision but if he does then good luck to him in Div 2.

hugo, You've hit the nail on the head. Loads on here will write anything to discredit the owners. Ok they haven't exactly produced a Stadium or a training ground but DC stirred a lot up ref budget etc as well as wasting most of what he did have. I will wait and see what we get in the way of new players before criticising. A mid to top 10 team would do me fine at this moment in time!!! Sometimes we have to be grateful for what we do have ie Bolton,Bury,Coventry. Spot on Steve and hope you are well mate. I get Gassy saying I’m obsessed by the previous manager. All I know is this board gave him £600k for Mensah, Payne and Nichols with Bennett’s wages on top. The same board backed Cogs on JCH and his wages which Robins said were amazing. My posts are not about the ex manager, I think he had a half decent budget and I like you give the board the benefit of the doubt. If Payne, Mensah, Nichols and Bennett scored 15 goals between them last season we’d be mid table and the same man in charge running the team before his sacking. 600k that he'd made (and some) by having to sell Taylor, Bodin, Gaffney, Harrison. If you pay less than the value of what you sold, you will almost always get a downturn in quality. That is what happened.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned on here... But JC will be playing for a team I like announced later. You just need Steffan Payne for the full set, now. Good luck.

The position he played under both has no relevancy on the man management skills of the two?
