Na imo all other teams should move up and then they start at the bottom again! Why? No one currently at the club has anything to do with what went on. No one currently at the club has benefited from it. Everyone currently at the club and who will be there going forward has already sufferered. Who are you trying to punish, and why? Bury's overspending put a lot of pressure on other clubs including ours to try to compete, so there are unseen consequences of their actions.

Thanks for your messages of good luck and support. After the initial devastation of losing our membership I am actually looking forward to the non league. I hope we don't have to start right at the bottom but if we do then so be it, I just hope we can somehow retain Gigg Lane , otherwise it will feel like starting a brand new club. It's quite sad that Gigg Lane is actually looking superb at the moment, the groundsman is not being paid but is looking after the pitch, and the other 2 groundsmen are taking care of Carrington, the training ground that Man City own, again with no pay. We still have Paul Wilkinson as manager, we have an assistant manager and a goalkeeping coach but no players!! apparently they have to turn up every day in order to claim compensation from the LMA , videos have been posted of the Manager hoovering the offices and he also been painting and decorating. I personally hope that we get a new owner and the Manager is given a chance. I feel sorry for the squad of players that the Manager assembled and they trained for several weeks without pay in the hope of getting contracts, we actually looked quite decent in pre season and I am sure they would not have been promised big wages, it shows what you can assemble without paying silly money. Local businesses have been badly affected as well, some supporters have set up a rota for people to attend various pubs and social clubs that used to benefit from match day, they meet on a Saturday at 1pm and then watch old videos of our matches, I think we are unbeaten lol. Another group have organised a Bury FC legends team against a Bury FC eleven, it was supposed to be against a team of celebrities but they pulled out because they didn't want any negative publicity while Steve Dale is still in charge. It's being held at a local non league ground because we don't want Dale to get any money and so far they have sold just under 2000 tickets,it will be a bit of squeeze . It's good to see everyone pulling together.

Just come in. Bolton will be punished for the postponement of the Brentford and Doncaster matches by a fine, some of which is suspended. According to the BBC website there will be no points deductions. If I could copy the link I would, but I can’t! Seems they’ve got away with it. Lucky for them. UTG!

5 points deduction but suspended so effectively no points deduction. I wish no club ill but this is unbelievable. How can you postpone a game which you would have possibly lost 5-0, play it later with new players and possibly win, and get away with no points deducted. Potentially you can be three points better off and a better goal difference by postponing a match. Not to mention the injustice to the opponents.
Very upset about this.

A complete farce. A 5 point deduction suspended for 18 months and a £70k fine, half of which is suspended for 18 months.

www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/18052697.bolton-set-five-point-suspended-penalty-independent-panel/WANDERERS will NOT be immediately docked points by the EFL for failing to fulfil fixtures against Brentford and Doncaster Rovers. It has emerged this evening that the Whites will be hit with a five-point SUSPENDED penalty, which leaves Keith Hill’s side clear to continue their quest for League One survival this season. The decision, made by an independent disciplinary commission, has seemingly gone down badly with several other key figures in the division. But Bolton – who will also be hit with financial penalties, some of which will also be suspended – can now concentrate on clawing back the ground lost after they were docked points for going into administration in May. A statement from the league read: “An independent Disciplinary Commission, appointed under EFL Regulations, has ruled that Bolton Wanderers will be handed a sanction of five points, suspended for 18 months, and a financial penalty as a result of being deemed guilty of breaching EFL Regulations in failing to meet its fixture obligations. “The Commission’s findings follow the consideration of a series of charges in relation to Regulation 31 and the non-fulfilment of two fixtures over the course of two seasons with the first in reference to the Club’s failure to meet its requirements for the scheduled 2018/19 Championship fixture with Brentford, while further charges were issued in September 2019, after the Club failed to fulfil its League One fixture against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday 20 August 2019. “At a hearing on Thursday, November 14, 2019, the Club pleaded guilty to the charges and, after hearing representations from both parties, the independent panel has ruled that Bolton Wanderers will be subject to a two point deduction for the fixture against Brentford and a further three points for the match against Doncaster Rovers. Both penalties are suspended for 18 months and will not be activated as long as the Club is not subject to a further misconduct charge for non-fulfilment of fixtures in that timeframe.” Wanderers’ financial penalty includes £20,000 and £50,0000 fines handed out for the two respective fixtures, with half of the amounts due also suspended for 18 months. The EFL reserve the right to appeal the decision but have confirmed that the Doncaster game will be rescheduled as soon as possible.

Incredible not to dock them further points and surely sets a very danagerous precedent going forward.
The prospect of them surviving this season and competing next season is simply wrong.

Expected nothing less tbh. League 1 has already been a joke this season thanks to the incompetent tw@ts at the EFL. They do know a bit about Twitter profile pics though... Attachment Deleted

So this must mean that next time we pick up a few injuries we can just call the game off knowing that the precedent has been set - no points deduction just don’t do it again. Then we can replay it with a fully fit side

An EFL spokesman said: "The EFL is disappointed by the conclusions reached by the independent Disciplinary Commission in respect of Bolton Wanderers and it is the firm view of the League that the sanction imposed is too lenient when consideration is given to all the circumstances of the case. "Given the potential for postponements to have a significant impact on competition integrity and, following receipt of advice overnight on the reasons provided, the League will appeal the outcome in the strongest possible sense." www.efl.com/news/2019/november/efl-to-appeal-disciplinary-commission-decision/

I genuinely think every L1 club should protest against this by not fulfilling their fixture against Bolton.
I would happily support this decision if Rovers decided to do it.

Problem with doing that would be awarding Bolton a 1-0 win and 3 points. With 30 games to play it would make them odds on for promotion. The whole thing stinks. When they failed to fulfill the Brentford game they were facing a potential points deduction of up to 10 points. Add on the postponement of the Doncaster match they should automatically be deducted anything up to a further 20 points. It's farcical what they ended up with.

Doncaster weren't awarded 3 points, the game "is to be played at a later date". Brentford were just awarded it as it was the last game and they couldn't fulfil the fixture. However, this time they just refused to do it because of 'player welfare'. We can just do the same, if everyone in the league does it we'll be stronger together on strike
