Yes, it is a strange one. I read it at first that the decision was from an independent commission from the EFL and when I read that the EFL were appealing this most recent decision I was confused. But if it was a truly independent commission then I presume somewhere on the terms of reference there will be means whereby anyone, Bolton, EFL or anyone else could appeal this decision. Perhaps teams in League 1 will combine to appeal this decision. It does seem strange but I’m glad the EFL has recognised the absurdity of this decision and want to appeal it. Without an appeal or without some real punishment for what they did, if Bolton get away with it it will give a message to other owners and clubs that the EFL can be ignored. I am glad the EFL are appealing this even if it does appear very strange. UTG! Apparently Bolton are going to appeal against the EFL appeal. They are also going to appeal against the result today.

The EFL are set to come under pressure at a meeting on Thursday from league clubs disgruntled with the outcome of the Bolton situation. Some are calling for resignations due to the apparent weak presentation given to the independent panel by the EFL reps, which resulted in the suspended points deduction etc.

It gets worse and worse doesn’t it. The leadership of the EFL have really annoyed the Championship clubs over the TV deal this summer and now they look to have done the same to the League 1 clubs. All they need to do now is jar off League 2 clubs and then no one will agree with them. Any attribute you look for in a governing body, leadership, vision, fairness to your clubs or individuals, planning and being organised are all lacking in the EFL. I thought that once Harvey went it would improve but it seems to have got worse. Managing to appeal against this independent panel decision would be a good way to start recovering some respect for the EFL. But as I often say, I won’t hold my breath. UTG!
