If we ever get a big name home cup draw, suddenly I don’t think getting a ticket in advance would be too much of a problem for people. You mean win a cup match? Get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup? I’ll have some of what you’re on! 😉 UTG! Always believe & DC has left the building.

I live an hour and 20 mins from Bristol and finished work at 1pm on a Saturday. That would give me a thirty minute window with a clear run down the M32, find a parking space about 20 minute walk from the ground. Fortunately yesterday I had a clear run. Now I bought a print home ticket so didn’t need to queue. I got in with two minutes to spare. I was considering going Tuesday but it will be a last minute decision. I won’t get a chance to print the ticket at home and my phone is a work one with restricted email access. So in answer to some of the above - it isn’t possible to get there any earlier but more importantly it deters any walk up supporters / one off from Bristol who don’t know how we as a club operate match day ticjeting You don't need access to emails to use your ticket on your phone. When purchased screenshot the ticket and then present the screenshot at the turnstile machine. So how do I screenshot a computer purchased ticket then? I can’t buy the ticket on my work phone due to its restrictions. So a last minute purchase is not possible

I agree. I was shocked that the gate was only 7600 yesterday when normally it would had been 9k- 10k. Ok weather and a lack of attacking signings played its part, but if I had gone yesterday I would had turned up to the ground at 2:45pm and joined the que to pay on the gate.Even tho Ive used the new system 5/10 times last year I forgot until seeing this thread that its ticket only. Surely a card payment/contactless option could be added on the gate if the club no longer wanted to use cash? If so that gate yesterday would had been at least 500 higher. I can't see how yesterday's gate would have been 500 higher if we'd had pay on the day, when fans have had 3 months to decide whether to go or not. Perhaps the low attendance will make the BoD wake up and realise attendances will soon be into the low 6,000's if we don't start winning games at the Mem. Fans arent going to travel for miles to the Mem to buy a ticket for Wycombe at home if they know they can get one on the day.It put's people off standing for 20 mins (Ive seen this last season) to get a ticket to a game where we a year before it took only mins to go thru the turnstyles. We had at least a 1000 off yesterdays gate due to the weather, last weeks result, summer transfers and the ticket system. I think 500 due to the weather plus ques for tickets alone.

So Bert and Maisie Bogginthorpe are incapable of buying a ticket at the ticket office and then walking a few yards to show it at the gate?
Yeh right. Very patronising.
What do they do when they want a cup of tea or a pee-pee? Demand the stewards carry them there?
I'm sure they can cope with a very simple transaction which does not involve smartphones or technology.

Is it really that hard to walk to the ticket office on the day and pay for a ticket that you then use at the turnstile? Exactly. What's so hard about handing over your cash at the ticket office then scanning your ticket as you go through the turnstile? Not much different. sh**e weather and sh**e football probably had more to do with it. At least last season Linesy was worth the admission price. Is getting fans to queue up twice really an efficient way of doing things? Whilst it's not much of an effort the improvements have made it twice as hard for fans to get in. It probably takes twice as long looking at the ticket office queues too.

Depending on what time you arrive at the ground it means queuing up twice, who the hell wants to do that? If the football continues in the same vain there will not be any queuing of course but that's besides the point. I mean in total it probably takes around 5-10 minutes is it really that much of a hassle? If it is then fair enough but I can’t see loads of people being put off by 5-10 minutes of waiting, this is literally the case at every other ground I’ve ever visited on an away day when paying on the day as well.

Oh well that’s ok , then must b ok if everyone else does it. I know several people that used ro go pay on day . That together with the style of play under GC give it a miss these days , who can blame them .

I wonder how difficult it would be for the turnstiles to be converted to read a credit card........

If some are too lazy to queue for a match ticket at home, there is no hope whatsoever they’ll travel elsewhere in the country for an away fixture. Most people do not go to away games full stop. I have tried it but you get treated like a p.o.w which i hated. I get what you’re saying, but you can’t beat the camaraderie and spirit between the fans at away matches. It’s a really special thing, in my opinion.

Strange post... I took my brother to the Wycombe game on Saturday ( im a season ticket holder, he is not.) and the que for cash tickets on the day... was non existent, 3 ticketiers were there and we didn’t que one bit... there was some great ques on the end of the ticket box (I assume for picking up tickets?)
If you want to support your team get down the Mem and do it.... stop finding excuses.

You don't need access to emails to use your ticket on your phone. When purchased screenshot the ticket and then present the screenshot at the turnstile machine. So how do I screenshot a computer purchased ticket then? I can’t buy the ticket on my work phone due to its restrictions. So a last minute purchase is not possible So when you are at work you leave your personal phone at home?? Sorry, I dont believe you. Look, you have a good point, I think a POTD turnstile is a good idea, but pretending its virtually impossible to access the ground without it undermines your argument.

My back up personal phone is a very old Nokia 3210 with no accessories like email so you can believe what you like. I have no restrictions when it comes to calls on the work phone so I have no need for the extra personal expense of a fancy dan personal phone.

I agree with the op on this. I didn't take to graham coughlan and his style of football last season so i decided not to renew my season ticket. But i loathe Queuing up before a game to get a ticket and i have no means of printing a ticket if i try to buy one online. I went to saturdays game but not being able to pay through the turnstile is a big turn off and hassle for me. My dad is in his 80's and when they stopped allowing him to pay at the turnstile he stopped going and has never returned. FYI you don't need to actually print it off on paper, you can just scan the ticket on your phone (that's if you have a phone or course!)

Someone I was speaking to on Saturday said we are about 1500 season tickets down on last year. You will always have some that won’t renew for good reason, perhaps a change in circumstances means you can’t afford it.
But also That’s what a relegation fight does to you. The football was dire last year and whilst GC kept us up I do fear that perhaps his personality just isn’t gelling with us especially after the connect we had with DC who seemed as if he was on our side all the time.

It’s all irrelevant play decent football that people want to watch not that dire display on Saturday crowds will improve simple This is true. It`s all well and good to set yourself up away from home, by picking your most defensively minded players to stifle the opposition, and try to nick a winning goal, but to do it at home is unacceptable. If Saturday`s game was entertainment, then I`m Taylor Swift.

I hope all that are boycotting the other cup turn up in numbers tomorrow night (me included). This is where we can make a point with good attendance compared to that croc of sh** enforced on us. BOYCOTT the efl trophy.

I’ve read a lot about why the crowd was down yesterday and the answer was simple. By removing pay on the turnstile you will lose 10-15% of your match day attendance. I have seen it horse race meetings around the country. Not everyone is computer savvy or has a printer to print home or lives within a short drive to the ground to buy in the shop. Bring back pay on the day at the turnstile ASAP. Personally I think the scrapping of the early-bird ticket offer had more of an effect. Agreed. Once you've bought a ticket midweek you then plan around going to the match. Leaving the decision to the day of the match allows for all sorts of reasons to crop up as to why you could spend your time elsewhere.
