I think the club have to install contactless card readers on all turnstiles - any transaction up to £30 - they've got it in the bars why not the turnstiles? How would you know what to charge ? Good point - if they could preset the machines for different turnstiles - season ticket holders - full paying - concessions - juveniles may be problem unless these are left as is - pay at the ticket office. With the majority of turnstiles set up to full paying. There must be a way around it, they may be losing hundreds of supporters the way it is.

There is literally a ticket office right next to the front gate, ready for you to purchase a ticket to get into the ground. People aren't just going to the turnstiles, finding out there is no cash option there and heading home again. The dire football on display is the main reason we are losing hundreds of fans and that doesn't look set to change any time soon under Coughlan.

I’m talking exclusively about the football on display here, not points per game ratios. Coughlan deserves praise for keeping us in the division but his next task is to ensure that our home record improves. Even before Coughlan, going back to the last year of DC’s tenure, our home record was starting to slide and under Coughlan this didn’t improve, surely you’ve got to admit that? The more we win and serve up exciting football, the more fans will turn up to watch us, it’s that simple. I really don’t buy this no cash on the turnstiles excuse.

I can understand why people would get fed up of having to walk all the way round to the ticket office with the length of some of the queues at times. It is definitely something we can improve. But yes, the main reason is that the football is dire with little ambition.

Tbf, I didn’t go Saturday because I knew the football on display wouldn’t be worth my £20 (for a number of reasons - conditions making it difficult, opposition spoiling the game, and us having no exciting players that I look forward to watching). And having read match reports from those who did go, that wasn’t a bad call!

The home performances started to slide long before the start of last season - they started to slide from around the start of February 2018 after the sale of Bodin. Last season DC managed just 2 wins in the first 12 home games before he was sacked and the home performances were generally crap - but he was getting nowhere near the sort of criticism from some that Coughlin is getting after just one home game. There is an anti Coughlin agenda starting already with some people I feel - pretty sad really IMO. I agree we need more creativity in midfield and a wide player - I actually feel with the addition of a couple of players and a fully fit squad we will more than hold our own in this division. Getting these players in is the challenge the manager has in the next couple of weeks. How did the 'supporters' who stayed away on Saturday know what sort of performance the team were going to give when they didn't even know what the team was and hadn't even seen the team play competitively this season? No, IMO the low attendance was much more to do with a combination of the way the club is being run from the top, the weather on the day, having to queue to buy tickets in terrible weather and holidays. The 'armchair (casual) supporters' will turn up IMO if we're winning not necessarily on how we're playing.

Its a lot to ask folk to plan/make their journeys, use valuable time, pay their money (for some this will mean going without something else from their budget)
(delete where applicable)
An tbf if you are pretty certain you aren't going to enjoy th match it's obvious many won't attend. Th next issue for th club is will those folk choose to do something else next time?

With regard to the drop in STs while I agree with people that its probably because we have been sh** at home for 18months the loss of a finace option didn't help either. Did they not find an alternative? My nephew renewed in March at the first possible chance (before the finance company went bust) yet still pays on the monthly basis for his ST.

If you can go to the ticket office on the day I just can't understand why you can't pay cash on the turnstile. If we were selling out every week (or close to) then I'd understand. I beleive it's so money is in one place and can be easily accounted for, not to mention safety (Although you would be mad to do something in a stadium full of people)
We know fans have tried to rip of the club with saying their ST has been lost in the past, so it's not beyond the realms that a turnstile operator or two may skim a bit off the top
Didn't consider this. Fair comment.

Yeah I think you’re right - there just seems to be a strong feeling of apathy amongst our fanbase atm. I love our club and going to the Mem used to be the highlight of my week, but I haven’t enjoyed watching us play for 18+ months now. I can’t really justify paying to do something I don’t enjoy anymore...

No football manager has had his selection not criticised by the average fan. What we were used to with DC was, the formation and tactics we have started with isn’t working. Right let’s change it with a change of formation or he wasn’t scared to sub someone before or at half time. GC just continued to plug away at something that wasn’t working and it was so one dimensional we played into Wycombes hands rather easily. There was zero positivity. And he rightly deserves to be criticised for that inept performance. I spent most of the afternoon looking at row S of the poplar stand, because that is where the ball spent most of its time.

Surely it's hardly a great problem to arrive a decent time before kickoff, go to the ticket office, buy a ticket and then go to the turnstiles to enter the ground. Like every other ground around the UK This is not true, at Blackpool last Saturday they had a pay at the gate turnstile and the little northern man just gave you a ticket, so instead of having to go to the ticket office (there was no away supporters ticket office, when I asked where it was I was actually directed straight to the turnstile), handing over 19 quid and getting a pre printed ticket then taking it to the turnstile, the turnstile was, in effect, a mini ticket office. I'm sure that would be possible at the Mem.
