I mean in total it probably takes around 5-10 minutes is it really that much of a hassle? If it is then fair enough but I can’t see loads of people being put off by 5-10 minutes of waiting, this is literally the case at every other ground I’ve ever visited on an away day when paying on the day as well. Its the modern way and i do get to games early so i dont have to queue twice in reality. But i dislike it and my dad refused to go again,i mean old people do struggle with stuff like this. No we dont.

I hope when we're in the new stadium winning the eurooean cup there will be assistance given to help people get to tbeir feet to cheer and applaud goals etc. It does seem to be becoming a bit of an effort for fans to manage to get to tbe ground and buy a ticket to get in, before being served tbeir michelin starred pasty. And where were tbe staff on saturday to mop my fevered brow when it got quite warm between showers.

I thought the attendance was low on Saturday for the first game at home. I don’t think the tickets had that much to do with it - but I agree it can be quite a hassle for some. Surely the poor result last weekend at Blackpool, the lack of exciting signings, the poor style of football GC offered last year and the crap weather all played a part. I know at least 3 people who couldn’t be bothered due to some of the above reasons.

If you can go to the ticket office on the day I just can't understand why you can't pay cash on the turnstile. If we were selling out every week (or close to) then I'd understand.

not that I want to sound rude or anything to @blubutterfly, but my dad is fecking useless with technology. He can barely tap the Season card on the scanner he is that dense but when it comes to cup tickets or something I help him.
I have purchased and printed off our tickets for tomorrow nights game. No double wueing. In the bar, have a pint and go in
My dad will probably be useless and scanning the QR code, but I can't do much about that.lol

Went to Spurs last week, the whole stadium is cashless. Would be hilarious at Rovers.

I beleive it's so money is in one place and can be easily accounted for, not to mention safety (Although you would be mad to do something in a stadium full of people)
We know fans have tried to rip of the club with saying their ST has been lost in the past, so it's not beyond the realms that a turnstile operator or two may skim a bit off the top

Low by the usual standards of a first game, but I agree I doubt POTD would have helped.
The weather was going to be shocking, so in reality you were more likely to turn up if you had pre-purchased
lets remember if you are tech savvy, you can but a ticket on your phone up to 12 or 1 o'clock or something like that

Saves money on insurance too.

This is true. It`s all well and good to set yourself up away from home, by picking your most defensively minded players to stifle the opposition, and try to nick a winning goal, but to do it at home is unacceptable. If Saturday`s game was entertainment, then I`m Taylor Swift.
Show us your tits. You sexist pig. I`m not just a gorgeous body, you know.

Ive read this thread with interest and the first thing I would say to Tom Gorringe is the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT. We are not Man United or Liverpool, we are not even Bristol City which I hate saying- we are light years behind both on and off the pitch and that even now goes for half the teams in this division too. Season Tickets are the first sign that things are not right at a football club and IMO the loss of 1500 season tickets was down almost entirely to the dismal football dished up by both Managers last season and the lack of attacking players. Most supporters were expecting to see summer transfers to correct this.It didn't happen and in all honesty the entire summer was one of doom and gloom and an air of expectancy that little would change from last season.
Football has changed and not for the better and there are far more exciting alternatives to watching 8 defensive players in a home match with nobody signed capable of running a game and a striker who has scored 2 in 73 games. Pre match Saturday as soon as the team came out I heard most comments that were about where are the goals going to come from. Goals win matches and the more strikes you have at goal the more likely you are to score.
The first thing anybody (apart from it seems GC do) is to work out where you are going to get 60 goals from in the season and if you look at the p0layers we have at our disposal it is very difficult to see where we are going to even get 40 goals this season.
This IMO is why the crowd is down but in my view the club should be looking at every way possible to get as many as possible through the gate and if that means having a pay on the day gate for cash then sobeit. It's ok taking matchday experiences to the next level if you are producing a product on the pitch that is worth putting yourself out a bit but I am afraid this is far from the case. I remember the old phrase "Eastville for Entertainment" and realise now just how far we are from producing that philosophy. The ponderous ,slow football is about on par with watching paint dry and if GC thought we played well then god help us when we play bad. One thing that is certain is that it won't take much more for there to be no worry about queing!!

I agree with the op on this. I didn't take to graham coughlan and his style of football last season so i decided not to renew my season ticket. But i loathe Queuing up before a game to get a ticket and i have no means of printing a ticket if i try to buy one online. I went to saturdays game but not being able to pay through the turnstile is a big turn off and hassle for me. My dad is in his 80's and when they stopped allowing him to pay at the turnstile he stopped going and has never returned. FYI you don't need to actually print it off on paper, you can just scan the ticket on your phone (that's if you have a phone or course!) I dont have a smartphone.

I think the club have to install contactless card readers on all turnstiles - any transaction up to £30 - they've got it in the bars why not the turnstiles?

If Tom Davies had not made that last minute goal line clearance I think one could imagine the meltdown there would have been on here. I agree the football is dire - a must win IMO tomorrow and I hope he plays his strongest team - whatever that is!!

With regard to the drop in STs while I agree with people that its probably because we have been sh** at home for 18months the loss of a finace option didn't help either.

I’ve read a lot about why the crowd was down yesterday and the answer was simple. By removing pay on the turnstile you will lose 10-15% of your match day attendance. I have seen it horse race meetings around the country. Not everyone is computer savvy or has a printer to print home or lives within a short drive to the ground to buy in the shop. Bring back pay on the day at the turnstile ASAP. Other clubs manage without POTD. I think its more about the absolutely sh**e day weatherwise, plus a bit of doom and gloom about the prospects this season.

I think the OP is exaggerating but agree that going to the ticket office is a nightmare. Went to Swansea friendly, got to east terrace turnstiles and told I had to walk round to the ticket office to buy a ticket. But of a pain but thought fair enough, walked all the way to the ticket office and the queues were massive! If we couldn't get it right for a bloody friendly, what chance is there during the rest of the season!
