The point is many Gasheads try to portray themselves as morally superior to our friends south of the river but looking at some of the bile and personal abuse spouted in some of these recent threads suggests we are no better than them. This has got nothing to do with Trashton. All the points and views raised on this forum regarding Ben Garner are relevant, none of it is abusive. If any of us failed at work the way he has, after such a short time, we'd be sacked, it's as simple as that. Being Gasheads we take the ups and downs, but this guy is demolishing everything in his path and is arrogant and conceited to boot. Even you must see that, disciple or otherwise. conceited ADJECTIVE excessively proud of oneself; vain. "Fred's so conceited he'd never believe anyone would refuse him" synonyms: vain · narcissistic · pleased with oneself · self-loving · in love with oneself · self-admiring · self-regarding · self-centred · egotistic · egotistical · egoistic · egocentric · egomaniac · proud · arrogant · boastful · cocky · cocksure · full of oneself · above oneself · I’m not a disciple and I perfectly understand why many want him sacked. The point is there is no reason to lower ourselves to abusive personal comments of which there have been plenty in recent threads. Clearly you think personal abuse is satisfactory and reasonable, personally I don’t think it’s necessary.

So do you think he'd still be in a job at AG with 1 win in nearly 20 games? What has that got to do with anything? My point is there is no need for some of the OTT, abusive and personal posts on recent threads. We can call for his sacking, criticise his selection and tactics as much as we want without resorting to some of the crap that’s been posted in recent weeks. We love to take a moral high ground and view ourselves as superior to city fans when they are kicking off about something or other yet we are no different.

Just listening to his geezer mockney waffle,,,," in 18 months time , I am putting foundations in place, desperate to win " . The club has been here since 1883 Ben. He is bigging up the Sunderland game. Steve Coppell, speaks to him five times a week. " Want's people who is going to buy in to what I want to do " Scary stuff Ben. Is it me, or does he look down his nose at times, a bit disrespectful to the interviewer, and others no doubt. All this since GC left us 4th. His way of talking is just a regional accent like most people in the UK have.

I think BG is facing the fact that there us a huge difference in coaching a footballer and managing a footballer.
In my time in the forces I undertook leadership courses and was taught that there are basically 3 ways to lead someone.
1. Fear, ...either do what I say or your out 2. Friendship......involves arm round the shoulder with words like " come on we can do this together" 3. Respect........doing things because you respect the person who is asking you
Truth is there is no one thing that works it always a mixture of all 3, the mix depending on the individual involved.
I think just like DC our current manager is learning on the job, I just hope he doesn't fall into the catogory of being too clever and ends up being able to find the square root of an orange but not peel it.

It's not really fickleness, though, is it? The point is many Gasheads try to portray themselves as morally superior to our friends south of the river but looking at some of the bile and personal abuse spouted in some of these recent threads suggests we are no better than them. If you’d have said that about our attitude towards GC before he left I’d have agreed. We were slamming a guy who was taking us to heights we’d not seen in about 20 years, giving him abuse from behind the dugouts because the football was ‘sh**’ even though we were grinding our results. I left the Mem feeling depressed even after we’d ground out a win because of the attitude of my fellow supporters. Those supporters got what they wished for in the end when the ‘PE teacher’ did a runner. Given our attitude I couldn’t blame him. But it’s not unreasonable to be disappointed and want a lot more from Ben Garner. Any other club and the supporters would be just as, in fact probably much more, hostile towards the man especially given the rubbish he has been spouting recently. No other club would put up with it. Until now most supporters have been relatively rose tinted and now only a few remain. The difference being City supporters slate LJ even though he’s within distance of the playoffs continually. They’d have not given him the chance BG has been given by supporters. Yeah some of our stuff it has been below the belt but that’s football supporters generally. I can only wish to have a ‘PE teacher’ back.

I don’t disagree with most of that - nobody is saying we should be happy with the current situation or haven’t got the right to vent our frustration if a manager or player is underperforming. I just don’t know why some have to resort to abusive and personal stuff. I don’t get the “that’s football supporters generally” as that suggests we should just give up on it and let people continue to be so abusive in their behaviours, both in the ground and elsewhere.

Patience people. All good things come to those who wait. I don’t disagree Dr Gas, but, after 55 years, it’s a long time coming. And I love your optimism, typical gashead! 😉 UTG! Too true. I have been optimistic for 58 years in April (no one upmanship intended btw)
