I’ll make a bold prediction and say that in a couple of years time, Toney will be in the Premier League, Hanlan in the Championship and JCH still playing in League One.

JCH is good but no where near Toney in ability, athleticism etc And he never will be, great player but it’s like comparing chalk with cheese Sometimes that’s the recipe for a good partnership. I think Daley and hanlan have good chemistry like that. We’re still missing that advanced playmaker to make it click in terms of creating lots of chances in games but hopefully we have the players to do it we just haven’t seen it / them properly yet. Tovey always looked good and could go on to better things. JCH was incredible under Coughlan and lost his way a bit after Coughlan left. And to be fair it’s the only time he’s ever been prolific in his career. Surely that advanced playmaker is Oztumer? Potentially Nicholson as well?

Jch will be banging in goals for whoever Coughlan is managing probably a league 2 side they’ll win promotion but get sacked for looking sh** and wonder off in to the sunset together whilst all the fans boo them and say that their football is crap. JCH knows he maybe could do better but loves Coughlan so much he decides to stay on the sinking ship with him. Netflix will do a documentary called Cogtanic and nobody will want to watch it because although JCH starring in it is rather good his attitude isn’t likeable and Coughlan comes across as boring. You heard it here first.

If you honestly think that you know nothing about football let’s be honest the lad has scored 4 in 5 and we miss him at rovers and we want him to do well Because I am sure rovers have a sell on fee

Seriously we all loved JCH when he was at rovers and I think there are a lot of bitter rovers fans that thought he was a good player when he was with rovers banging in goals and he is joint top goal scorer in league 1 in my opinion we should of tried harder to keep him

Probably because he has seen Toney for longer. Let's not forget that the 2 played in 2 completely different teams ie. Posh have probably had better creative players than us therefore making more chances for Toney whereas JCH with us had to make a lot of his own chances? Can you imagine Toney scoring goals like JCH did vs Scunny, Gills and Plymouth, all away, all solo and all from a distance with the goalie having no chance? Toney is a classic Lineker / Sheringham style goal "moocher"? He is also playing at Brentford now who invariably create far more chances than most teams do? Plus £10M and £1.25M; money wise, the difference is far too great and we lost out! I always said we should not sell him for <£5M but circumstances prevailed? If injury free, I think he will be worth a lot more than £5M although transfer fees may drop if money hard to come by? Up The JCH UTG

I sense his agent saw the £ signs of a £1m+ deal and made the decision for him. Like Bennett he's a football nomad just looking for the best deal every couple of years.

I've always said we should have kept him. He was contracted til the summer we had every right to turn down any bids. I think we would have had a real shot at Championship football with him and how much would that have made us?

Did Garner want him though? Garner seems like the kind of manager where if you offered him a striker with JCH’s strike ratio but with the caveat that you have to build a team round him I think Garner wouldn’t be interested. JCH hardly thrived under Garner (admittedly the few times he played) so I imagine that the move that happened actually suited everyone involved apart from the fans. Some of the fans might argue that we should have kept him (I agree to a certain extent) but I’m sure Garner and others would respond that Hanlan is a better player for the way we want to play (even though he may not have the goals to games ratio of JCH or be able to conjure goals out of thin air).

Sort of agree with above. JCH came on a free and was sold for a million plus. Hopefully with a sell on clause. In his time here, his goals contributed largely to us staying up following the carnage of DC's last half season. By my reckoning his acquisition and departure was good business.
His contract was running down and there was scant evidence that he intended to sign a new one. As such he was a diminishing asset by the day.
It's also interesting that no Championshio club were prepared to take a risk on him. Had that been the case, his wages would have been significantly higher than those on offer at Posh.
I wish him well. He served us well.

Good luck trying to get a demotivated JCH to score goals when he seemed to give up last season once JCH quit. JCH has got 4 goals in 8 games, Hanlon 3 goals in 7 games, it's early days but getting £1m for JCH and replacing him for next nothing seems a good bit of business rather than letting him run down his contract and getting zero next summer or a Bodin type transfer fee in January.

Is the full interview anywhere or are they just dripping 90 seconds at a time to fill column space?

Both top scorers in their divisions. I think after yesterday’s matches Jephcott at Plymouth is top scorer in our league now
