Its ok saying we should have kept JCH but he did not want to be here and it showed in his general demeanour, will always be grateful for his goals but his petulance was getting tiresome, Toney miles better and plays as though he enjoys it with a smile.

JCH initially did a great job for us and his goals kept us up. A tight defence and a firing JCH up front resulted in loads of points. Then he lost interest and it was best for both him and the club that he went. People can argue that we sold him cheap but his contract was ending by the minute and he showed no desire whatsoever to sign another one regardless of the terms.
It is interesting that despite his form for us no Championship side were prepared to even gamble on him. There is no comparison with Toney. Toney has scored goals regularly in the Championship; JCH can't even get into a Championship team let alone score goals at that level.

As much as it is I think Toney would prove to be a good signing for a Championship team looking for a new striker. Worth more than £11m now that's for sure!

I still say we should have kept JCH and held him to his contract. Players like Bennett can sit on their fat wedge until the end of the contract doing nothing yet its wrong for a club to hold a player to their?!!) An unhappy JCH (i think he would have got on with it personally like Dembele has at Posh) would have surely still contributed to the team more than the current rabble.

I agree and like you recall saying the same at the time. The problem is under those circumstances we'd now be arguing about letting his contract run down and leaving on a free (or cheap in January) oblivious to the fact we'd otherwise be relegated.

JCH has scored more goals for Peterborough this season already than Toney did last season.
Firing them to promotion.
Again proves how we had our pants pulled down by Posh and received such a measly figure for him.

I think Posh will have their pants pulled down when they have to pay us 20% of any fee they might take for him.

Letting that happen, then failing to use those funds to replace him, has cost our league 1 status.

I see what you mean completely with hindsight, but letting him go when the best replacement option was offering £50k for a player who is not an out-and-out striker was scandalous. IMO you only let a player leave once you have good options as replacements. Peterborough certainly follow this, unfortunately at our expense on this occasion.

Agreed, we should have had a replacement (or replacements) ready. I can see some logic in seeing how things went with Hanlan, Daly, etc, but not getting one in by the end of January though was poor.

Going into the season with Hanlan and 2 complete rookies was a helluva risk that did not paid off. I remember pirate and a few others concerned about it pre season, but then as you say not to correct it in January is poor, inexcusable even.

I’ll make a bold prediction and say that in a couple of years time, Toney will be in the Premier League, Hanlan in the Championship and JCH still playing in League One. This still happening?
