IMO too much focus on one player is not good for the Club - get rid ASAP.

Why not just refer to this article from the BP, or was it too positive for you to post? www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/ben-garner-opens-up-jonson-4374776The club can't really win if JCH refuses to sign a new contract, as certain fans will say why's he being sold on the cheap, others why are we letting him run down his contract, didn't they learn anything from MT & BB. Weird thing to say, here. Do they really think we got nothing in return for our investment in TL? "The former captain progressed over eight years with the Gas, becoming a Wales international, but left in the summer of 2019 for absolutely nothing, providing no return on Rovers’ investment or the time they had put in developing him." I guess it all depends on which way you look at it, as P'boro are looking to get £4m+ for their 2(?) years "investment" in Toney. It is maddening that post Bosman we get nothing for years of coaching the likes of Locks but pre-Bosman we'd have got £500K+. Charlton now found themselves in a similar position having helped Locks prove he can perform at Championship level but will also now get nothing if (when?) he leaves, whereas Pompey managed to somehow to get £6m for Clarke last summer.

Ipswich got burned with Harrison, who was not an injury prone player with us but injuries at Ipswich left him playing catch-up till they sold him at a loss...are they really ready to try again with a similar outlay on a player with a much more obvious injury record? Do you honestly think clubs think “Oh we signed someone who didn’t work out from club x so we won’t sign anyone from them again Luke James and Nicholls come to mind

I have been reliably informed JCH returned to pre season training post lockdown, resembling Giant Haystacks. Perhaps we should calculate his selling price per kg?

So Toney will not leave for less than 6 million, according to Peterborough chairman, JCH 750k! Seems a bit stupid if we are selling him for a figure like that! I think Ivan Toney is capable of playing at a higher level due to his pace etc to match his physicality and less injury prone. 2 years younger, also JCH has already had a crack in the championship and not a very good record. He wasn't in a very good team though.

JCH has had plenty of time over lockdown to make his mind up about a new contract. It's time now for him to be straight with the club. Tell them his bottom line and the club then can decide if it can meet what he wants. Don't want to see this dragging on and then him going on transfer deadline day in a couple of months. If he wants out then better he gets his agent to sort out a club now and for our Board to negotiate the best deal it can.
Trouble is I'm not sure there is that much interest out there if a significant fee is involved.

Hasn’t Garner sucked the life out of him? He isn’t the same player he was under Coughlan, added to his injury record I don’t see his stock being all that high at the moment and we would be lucky to get the sort of money we did for Harrison.
Football is all about form and striking while the iron is hot, if your best goal scoring exploits were a season ago under a different manager then other teams are quickly going to forget about you.

That sounds like good news to me as it means we will keep him 👍. I’m not sure about sucking the life out of him though? I’ll take a life sucked out of JCH over the rest of the strikers that we had at the club over the last few years. 😁

Abu Ogogo was at Nuffield Gym this morning (day off from the Rovers) , told him to hold a gun to Johnson's head and make him sign. He laughed and said he will tell Johnson what I said.

East Anglian Daily Times reporting that Ipswich target JCH has been told by Ben Garner to sign an extension to his contract or he will be sold to ensure we don't lose him for nothing next summer. His current value is supposedly £750,000. Sorry to post more negative news guys. Thought you might be interested. I hope JCH signs a new contract, however if he doesn't ,what stops him from running down his current contract and then leaving at the end of season to join a club that offers him a combination of the best wage and best signing on fee. Nothing stops him, but we'll have been promoted by then, so he's unlikely to move on then is he? 🤣

Unfortunately it seems players and their agents hold all the cards, unless we put a time limit on any offer he knows he can just bide his time, even if we do he probably know damn well if he says in a month or three he'll sign a contract we'll agree probably, probably only P'boro would be brave enough to tell him to do one.

It's a shame signed contracts mean nothing these days. Makes you wonder what's the point.

Should JCH refuse a new contract and we are forced to sell him I would hope we could get at least a Million for him. But even if it is 750k I think we should be going all out to sign Tyler walker from Forest. Got 1 year left on his contract as far as I'm aware and got 14 goals in 29 games for Lincoln last season and hasn't really got a look in while back at forest. He's only 23 and I think he might fit garners style of football better than JCH. Forest may want to keep a hold of him but I'm sure they will be willing to consider an offer if we put in the right bid.
