East Anglian Daily Times reporting that Ipswich target JCH has been told by Ben Garner to sign an extension to his contract or he will be sold to ensure we don't lose him for nothing next summer.
His current value is supposedly £750,000.
Sorry to post more negative news guys. Thought you might be interested.

If he won't sign a new deal, he will probally be sold. Not telling us anything we don't know. Think we can get a bit more than that though, although the length of his contact, will certainly lower his price.

I don't think JCH will be off this summer to Ipswich because they are subject to the £2.5m wage cap just like us meaning they won't be able to offer significantly more than what we could offer him, they are in the same division and he's still in contract meaning they would have to cough up at least £750,000 to sign him, something I can't see a L1 club doing in this economic climate.
If a championship club come in for him and meet the valuation, it's a different matter.

That's what it said in the post. That only £1300 of each players wages signed before a certain date count towards it. So if any club is going to sign him in this league, it will probally be before it's brought in.

And Rovers have the power to ensure that he's still at the club until that wage cap is brought in if any fellow L1 clubs are sniffing around him, he's not a free agent. Unless contract talks have gone badly and he wants out, there's no rush to sell him early doors.

So if he won't sign a new deal, we will need to replace him, before the wage limit is brought in. Obviously don't know how negotiations are going, but we can't lose him for nothing and we will need to replace him, if he does not sign a new deal. Hopefully we can get him to sign a new deal, with a release clause of a championship comes in and meets the agreed amount. As long as it's not c**y!

A £2.5million cap gives a club like Rovers more than enough wiggle room to find the wages for a replacement and agents will know that their clients are unlikely to be handed big pay packets under the circumstances anyway. I'm all for selling JCH if Rovers get a decent sum for him and it avoids another Lockyer situation but I don't think there's a rush with the deadline two and a bit months away, especially if it's a potential top 10 L1 rival interested.

By the time agents get their cut, we would be looking at around £2k a player. So JCH is only on that currently?? So if he does not sign before it's brought in, his wages could be 2 player's wages. Doubt you would get a decent replacement on £2k a week. Need to get a deal with him, or with someone else before it's brought in.

Remember that Rovers are at a big advantage over clubs that are being slower to conduct business because the likes of Ehmer, Baldwin, Grant, Nicholson will count as being on £1300 a week even if their real wages are over that. Such a saving on wages that count towards the budget leaves more money in the pot to be able to push the boat out on wages for a JCH replacement should he be sold.

I hope JCH signs a new contract, however if he doesn't ,what stops him from running down his current contract and then leaving at the end of season to join a club that offers him a combination of the best wage and best signing on fee.

If it looks like he's not going to sign a new deal, I would still get it done sooner than later. So the new player could be part of some of pre season. If we sell him once the season has started and then replace him, they won't have time to settle in. Obviously I want him to stay. Just think we need to get him to decide ASAP.
