You would thing BG and TW have a list already drawn up. The question is now, how much do they get to reinvest? Fees will already be inflated knowing we have money to spend.

On one hand he really didn’t want to be here. It has been clear as muck since January.
On the other, we need two strikers now desperately.
Putting our faith in a single replacement would be extremely risky.
1.25 isn’t the best of fees but I get it under the circumstances.

I don't think anyone is surprised anymore when Rovers get their pants pulled down in the market when it comes to selling players.

I'm actually not that disappointed to be honest. It's a reasonably decent fee considering how we got stiffed for Bodin, Taylor and Ellis, and I now have much more confidence in our ability to get a decent replacement in, and I'm sure we will have prepared for this. Let's hope T-Widds will come up trumps.

Like pirate says we’re getting our pants pulled down again. The only mitigating factor is the COVID situation which has affected money in the bank for other clubs. We’ve cleared our debts and made ourselves more sustainable why are we letting him go for so low? We don’t need to hold out? We’ve got better at not having our pants pulled down by players signing for the club. Now we need to get better at not having our pants pulled down by clubs who want our players

Fingers crossed not another Abraham, Nichols, Payne, Adeboyejo or Reilly type brought in as a replacement.

Let's hope that Coventry aren't due too much of the transfer fee.
I expect Ayunga was signed with this in mind, and we got him early to avoid an inflated fee. We may get Healey in too, and I see those 2 as being better long term options bearing in mind JCH's fitness issues.

Fingers crossed not another Abraham, Nichols, Payne, Adeboyejo or Reilly type brought in as a replacement. Sadly feel this is inevitable. I’d be excited about our current striker lineup if we had two decent first teamers in front of them but can’t help but feel we’re where we were two seasons ago and will end up in the same circumstances that bought JCH to the club.

We’ve got better at not having our pants pulled down by players signing for the club. Now we need to get better at not having our pants pulled down by clubs who want our players I completely understand your points on it, and given the sort of fees Posh get for their players, and even the sort of fees we used to get for ours (Hayles, Roberts, Ellington) we are getting what seems like a poor deal. Having said that, perhaps we're transitioning over now to a better way of doing things, and it might take a bit of time for us to start seeing our players get sold for indisputably decent fees. I personally don't think that any L1 player should be worth more than £3M-ish, but that's just me, and I think the fees Posh get for their players are ludicrous. However, maybe the new sustainability model we're aiming for is gearing up to us doing something similar in the not-too-distant future. Given how we looked like dicks after we sold Taylor, Ellis and Bodin, I'm reasonably pleased (reasonably being the operative word here!) that we got over a million for JCH, and as he is dragging his heels over a new deal and we'd potentially get nothing for him in a few months time, it represents some progress in my opinion. It'd be a bit better than we got for Lambert as well wouldn't it? Who he goes to is of no concern to me, as long as it wasn't south of the river, so the fact he's going to another L1 club I don't really care.

You mean better than a player that has scored 27 goals in 49 games for us and one where only only five players in the squad made more appearances in the season just gone and last season (18/19) playing in 46 games and 40 games the season before that? Good luck with that.

We have no proven league goal scorer in the club right now. Many of us were content when Nichols were signed, when we signed Stefan Payne. They bombed. When we resigned Matty T we were happy we had Luke James to take out chances on when Matty T left in January. Ayunga looks promising, as do the youth prospects, but do you really want to risk one signing on Ayunga NOT being the next Luke James or Bernard Mensah. Do you want to risk the main man not being the next Luke James or Stefan Payne? All it takes is one or two injuries. Personally, if we don’t get two in I’ll be extremely pessimistic about our chances this season, despite what appears to have been good progress in the defence and midfield.

Agreed we need another goalscorer, preferably two, but I feel quietly confident that the likes of Nicholson and JML will bag a few goals for us this season. Last season the goals return from midfield and the various strikers supporting JCH was pretty dire.

Fingers crossed not another Abraham, Nichols, Payne, Adeboyejo or Reilly type brought in as a replacement. We need someone who has scored goals at this level its as simple as that. The problem is, someone like that will cost us money. People talk about Rhys Healey but surely he would cost us more than what we have just made for JCH?

The fee is about right, i dont think we can complain too hard ref that. We can only really judge whether it will be a good bit if business when a replacement is in the door.

Nichols and Payne scored goals at this level, just saying. It's not a guarantee either way, and I'd be happy if we picked up someone who's performed well at L2 or the Conference, who has the genuine ability to make the step up.

I'd go and make an offer to Brentford for Marcus Forss. He might not want to leave, Brentford might not want to sell and it might mean us smashing our transfer record, but needs must and all that.
