A real shame but players only get one shot at a football career and have got to do the best for themselves.

We need someone who has scored goals at this level its as simple as that. The problem is, someone like that will cost us money. People talk about Rhys Healey but surely he would cost us more than what we have just made for JCH? I'd go and make an offer to Brentford for Marcus Forss. He might not want to leave, Brentford might not want to sell and it might mean us smashing our transfer record, but needs must and all that. Good shout for Forss, cracking record at Wombles last year, I'd love to have him here.

The fee is about right, i dont think we can complain too hard ref that. We can only really judge whether it will be a good bit if business when a replacement is in the door. £1.25m for a goalscorer to our divisional rivals who's chairman recently openly stated he was worth more than that and to a club who are reportedly set to sell their striker with a similar record for a fee in the region of £5m? Pants pulled down again if you ask me.

It's not a guarantee either way, and I'd be happy if we picked up someone who's performed well at L2 or the Conference, who has the genuine ability to make the step up. Yes you are correct and of course there will always be a risk. But I think that's a better bet than signing another untested striker. Someone with potential who is scoring in league two or someone young from a higher league who has at least had some league experience and scored goals.

Always keep an eye on your shouts but he had surgery on a torn hamstring in Jan, I’d be concerned about risking our bounty on him. I’d want to see a full injury free season first given how quick these games will come round. Looks a great prospect though.

Problem is, he wouldn't be cheap, would have plenty of other interest and maybe Brentford think he is ready for the step up now. It might have been easier to get him if they had got promoted to the Premier League which he is not yet ready for.

You're probably right, but a loan move with an option to buy could be possible? I don't think it'll happen, just think he'd be a great signing if we tried for him.

I’m not arsed mate, think the bloke is a knob, for the balance of this argument though...JCH ain’t a patch on either of the players you’ve mentioned. I fully expect it to be a deal Loaded with add ons etc in our favour so let’s all hope he goes there and does well and we get even more dollar. On a side note imagine being a posh fan...you’ve gone from Maddison and Toney to Broom and JCH

That completely kills any bargaining power we have, no?

Kind of inevitable he was going to go given he had not signed the deal that had been on offer for months. It is just a shame that it is a bit of a sideways step for him. Posh are one of the sides I hope we will be competing with for a play-off spot this season and I thought JCH would be looking for a Championship club at this stage of his career and having proved himself in L1.
£1.25m is a decent amount though so let's hope we can get a suitable replacement (or ideally 2 strikers) before Ipswich.

JCH would’ve been showing on the books @ only £1.3 k per week under current salary cap rules.

Pretty gutted to have lost him but to be honest having just seen the fee, it’s higher than I expected! In my eyes it’s pretty good business. The key now is to move quickly in securing a replacement ready for season kick off. You would think we’ve known about this for a while and have a list of players lined up, whoever comes in will need to be sharp, confident and hungry.
Going to be an interesting few weeks!

Fair points but what if a championship club didn’t want him?
