Some guy complaining he might not be their next £6M sale. Different planets.

I'm not impressed with selling him to a divisional rival at all.
I will reserve judgement to see if we get an adequate replacement and if we show some intent.
If we just get some 2 bob kid on loan like Timmy Abraham again, then Rovers can f*ck off.

It's about time we did smash it. 1992 and counting. Most of us have been praising Wael, regarding him pumping money in, and the signings he's made recently, going out and smashing it will show a real sign of intent. Our record transfer is Tom Nichols 👀 Is it? Officially it's still Andy Tilson

Regardless of everything else, we can’t keep selling our best players if we are ever going to progress. Every year it’s one step forward and two steps back. Appreciate it may be good business on paper to get good money for JCH with his injuries but our ongoing history to never adequately replace these players and put money back into transfers makes this completely underwhelming. Hope I’m proven wrong. UTG! I’m sure we didn’t want to sell him, but if the bloke wants to go there’s nothing we can do about it!

Will not be missed by me
Arrogant to the extreme in my eyes
only really played well when he had Sir Tom next to him to supply the runs and passes he never did

It rarely works for us when we spend big money on a player.

How long does Toney have left on his contract though? We risked having a striker who wanted to leave going for nothing. I think we've avoided having our pants pulled down. Having your top goalscorer entering the last year of his contract and losing him to a bloke that recently stated he was worth more is having your pants pulled down and then rolling over to have your tummy tickled. We've seen it all too often in recent years. Do you think we could have gotten more? In a few months he could have agreed a move elsewhere and gone for nothing at the end of the season. Unless we held a gun to his head and made him sign a contract I can't see what more could be done. Nobody is going to pay a L1 club £5m for a player who's got less than a year on his contract.

£1.25m for a goalscorer to our divisional rivals who's chairman recently openly stated he was worth more than that and to a club who are reportedly set to sell their striker with a similar record for a fee in the region of £5m? Pants pulled down again if you ask me. How long does Toney have left on his contract though? We risked having a striker who wanted to leave going for nothing. I think we've avoided having our pants pulled down. Whilst I welcomed JCH’s goals (who wouldn’t) it was always a concern to see him semi limping around the pitch, and being overly-critical towards his team mates. I think he may well have become disruptive and petulant if we had refused to sell him now, and would have done a Jason Roberts on us and downed tools for the rest of his contract. If he wants to go to Posh then good luck to him. I doubt they’ll get a half season out of him because of his constant injuries.

I think we could have gotten a bit more, but he should have been tied down to a longer contract way before now, so we aren't left in this similar position where we lose our best players for less than we should be getting. It is happening time and time again in recent years. Very frustrating.

Proven number 9 goalscorer, very hard to replace, but:-
- Injury prone - Attidude issues - Fitness and weight issues - Clearly no longer wanted to be here - Can only really play one way - Would have gone next year anyway, for nothing.
£1.25m, not a bad bit of business.

I think its important to remember who Pboro sell to not just who they are selling. www.uptheposh.com//records/transfers/With Toney a Celtic target its not hard to see why they receive larger fees.

Hope I’m proven wrong. UTG! This "we can't keep selling our best players" thing has been done to death over the years. Every club is a selling club given the right price and circumstances. Literally every club. What makes Bristol Rovers any different? Providing we have a succession plan, there's no reason we can't continue to sell our best players and progress all the same. We need to sell players to be sustainable in the future, so we'll always be doing it.

Credit card maxed, need to pay the wages, wouldn't be surprised if Coventry haven't a big sell on, he came on a free after all. The mentor will have to do some mentoring now, but no need to worry, the mentor will find plenty of positives out of the sale. No ball winner in midfield, no goal scorer, 9 centre backs in the squad, mom week in week out this coming season the flying fin, can't wait. One more sale to pay wages for another month before October deadline, Kilgour ?
