John Taylor Scott McGleish Derek Riordan Jamie White Even Payne and Zebroski had good seasons immediately before we signed them. Apologies to Taylor for being grouped with the others on this list. Needless to say it doesn’t always work out. John Taylor was great for us, especially that floppy limbed celebration he used to do from time to time! I remember him being pretty good and partnered with Marcus Stewart. He came as a player plus cash swap with Devon White iirc. What about Paul Miller (£100,000?) or Peter Beadle (£30,000)?

Stefan Payne was also kind of a proven goalscorer having been top scorer at the losing playoff finalist the season before we signed him.

I can't see any poster has been demanding we signed a proven L1 goal scorer, just that we sign a striker with some experience of scoring in league football. Given that we've just banked £1m(?) from selling a proven goalscorer I don't think it's too much to ask that we sign a striker with some league experience.

Fail to score a striker who has scored league goals before the end of the window and we deserve the horror of a season we will end up with.
It will make the dry period from two years ago seem prolific

I’m worried we’ll end up in the same position.

You can't be frustrated with this transfer window though, and we have plenty of time to get someone in, although I'd say it needs to be sooner rather than later. We're all worried that we'll end up in that post Ricky Lambert void where we had a decent squad without any goals in it, but I firstly think we'll get someone in, and secondly this squad will produce goals and assists. Our youngsters are a season of two off realising their potential, but I still feel they'll chip in too.
