www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2021/february/max-emmer-apology/Following Tuesday’s defeat at Accrington, Club Captain, Max Ehmer has written the below letter to supporters... 'Dear Gasheads, We appreciate the support that fans are giving us, albeit from home during these challenging times. Tuesday’s performance was unacceptable and fell substantially short of what we expect to produce when representing Bristol Rovers. We want to extend a sincere apology to all those who spent their hard-earned money watching us online. We know many people are missing attending games in person and watching games online offers a form of distraction in these testing times and on Tuesday, we let you down. While many of us are yet to play in front of a packed out Mem, we still know that the support from all of you at home is as strong as ever. We understand and respect the responsibility of wearing the blue and white quarters and we are determined to repay your faith in us as players and put in the hard work to turn around the results between now and the end of the season.” There’s still a lot of football left to be played and we know that only us as players can correct the disappointment from Tuesday’s result. Just because the stands are empty, it doesn’t mean we don’t feel the anger that a result like Tuesday brings, believe me we do. We are also hurting and want to put things right. Thanks for all your support. We hope that very soon, you will be able to get back to the Mem once again. Stay safe, Max.'

Just read this on line and welcome his words, but words are cheap and action speaks louder - Make us proud Max and not ashamed, we await your leadership and response eagerly.

It feels a bit like when your partner f**ks up and says they’re sorry and won’t misbehave again.
It’s vilifying but ultimately you can’t help but think “yeah, you better not do.”

Good words and nice response..... just need to see the actions now and a significantly improved performance (shouldn’t be hard!) where every player scores at least a 7 or above in our player ratings!
A decent result would be helpful too - ideally a win but I’d take a draw! 😉

Fair enough Max, don't know if they are your words or 'the clubs' but hope you can all put it behind you and can turn the words into action and some positive results, this forum can not make for very pleasant reading for you or any other players daft enough to read it, best of luck.

What's done is done. He can't reverse the 6-1 defeat.
What he can do is tell us how bad the team feel about it and how they are determined to put it right, which he has.
Shows a good attitude to me, so well done Max and thanks.
Now start winning some ferkin games!

No reason to believe its not his words. I thank him for that and hope he and the team can put on performances for the rest of the season that us gasheads and Max and the players can be proud of. UTG!

Talk is cheap, Max. Start doing it on the pitch and there's no need for open letters to the fans.
And this letter should have been published at least 24 hours ago. Smacks of trying to placate the fans given the extent of the fall-out from Tuesday.

At least he has apologised. Could have came earlier. but at the end of the day actions speak louder than words and as long as he starts commanding his team mates and cuts out the silly mistaks and get us a result on Saturday, I'll be happy to put Tuesday behind me for now

Too little, too late? Did the club put him up to this, or did he do it himself? If the latter, then good on him but he needs to translate the words into action on the pitch, as do his teammates.
