Blimey you leave the forum for 24 hours and by the time you come back there’s fights all over the place, it’s like the salon bar in an old western.
Going back to Martin Starnes, he’s a funny bloke isn’t he. On the important issues at the club like stadiums and sacked managers he likes to keep his thoughts to himself. Give him a postponed match due to a frozen pitch and he comes over all Kevin Keegan “ I would luv it, if we beat them, luv it”
Good to see a bit of passion Martin, keep it up. Keep talking like you give a toss and be honest with the fans, we can take it. Drop the bullshit, we’ve heard it all a thousand times before from far better bullshitters than you. 👍

What is this absolute love-in you’ve got going over Garner - are you his wife/partner/significant other? Get over PT = water take BG had the better record at the gas please accept this mate. BTW do you supply PT with his clothes? How do you work that out? Ben Garner six wins from 33 games=18% Paul Tisdale five wins from 19 games= 26.3% Unless the stats have been hacked I think it’s obvious who had the better record.

If PT would’ve carried on we be relegated by Easter 🐣 BG was brought in to do a job which the BOD didn’t let him finish,it was always going to take longer than a season with ups and downs throughout the transformation and the big changes to the playing staff and the football the bod wanted us playing.

I’ve said it on another thread, this whole BG and PT comparison is not worth it as ultimately neither performed good enough for the Board and to be fair us fans and our expectations. Both can point to mitigating factors too. All this bickering about this manager is better than that manager is spreading across all threads and just spiralling this place into a tomb of negativity!
Neither side is going to agree, it’s pointless so can you all just agree to disagree and move on? Then as a forum can we look to unite and try to look forward and drive forward in a positive manner supporting the club and whatever manager comes in next? By god we need to as we need to get out of this mess!
Positive thinking creates positive action and positive outcomes!
UTG!

That is a matter of opinion unlike the fact that if Graham Coughlan hadn’t had done such a fantastic job in getting us to fourth in the League when Garner took over, we would have been relegated long before Easter of that year! For me the blame lies totally with the board for appointing him in the first place and implementing this crazy change of direction for the club at that precise time. A totally mad way forward from the off IMO.

You don’t know that. We actually played better in the last 2 games under PT, when we had a few forward player’s back. When Garner got sacked performances were getting worse. Plus Garner assembled this squad, so he should do better with it. Like GC did better than Garner last season. This squad is to play the Garner way. So a fair way to compare Garner and PT would be to compare Garners record last season, to his record this season. Pointless argument now anyway, as they are both gone. We will never know how we would have ended up under either manager. Out of the two, it’s more likely that PT would have done better over time though. At least you can see he was trying to bring in the type of attacker and not another left back.

Cut them out like the cancer they are Glad to see you being as constructive as ever! They may have made some poor decisions but both have remits far bigger than appointing managers (which is a board decision so by your sentiment you must be calling Wael and Tom clowns and cancerous in the same breath?) and when it comes to players it is the manager who says what he wants, Widdrington scouts and then gives the manager the options. The manager picks and the board and Widders negotiate terms

Didn’t Cottrill have the same problem over at City? Having players picked for him who he basically didn’t want? Going by one of his last interviews on TV. Decent of you to mention that it’s the board who negotiates contracts! That should put a few noses out of joint when it comes to the Bennet and Nichols contracts and who was to blame for that.

So Widdrington picked Williams and Stockley for Tisdale, plus a bunch of random U23 players for Garner? The facts clearly don't support your views, it seems pretty clear the managers pick the players and then TW agrees the deals.

Steve Hamer, I was told DC thought Nichols was worth a maximum of £250K but Hamer agreed £350K in order to clinch the deal.

The only clown is the one expecting the owner to sack the whole board he's taken time to recruit.

Because the facts support what Mr ITK Darkbluegas has stated.

Tommy then uses his scouting team, network and analysis database to give a list of players that fits that brief. The manager then chooses which of those players to go for and then Widdrington tries to negotiate to get them with the board finally sanctioning wages and fees? It’s not the manager (which is the historical way things were done, it’s the whole team - Manager, DoF/Head of recruitment and the board....

Plus, we are getting rid of managers faster that the scouts can find players to suit. If I didn’t believe it I wouldn’t post it? And yes I know we’ve got rid of 2 managers in quick succession but what has that got to do with how recruitment works? Ultimately the manager takes the buck for performances and results as they are the ones who identify the need, choose who the priority targets are, pick the squad, formation and set up each game and are accountable for training (the coaches deliver it in line with the managers direction). I don’t get what is so wrong with what I’ve put? Maybe you could enlighten me? (Please bear in mind I have experience in how football recruitment works)
