I'm assuming that he's referring to the culture, rather than specific individuals when he says this. The club does seem to have a culture that just accepts mediocrity, where people can be promoted or rewarded for average or below-par performance, where many are probably just content to remain a league one/league two yo-yo club and not aspire to do better. You can see examples of that all over the place. Ironically the one area where we are quick to make changes is the first team manager so he'd probably want to consider how far he wants to take this line of thinking within the public environment. You could be talking about our fanbase there as well as the FC.

Please, don’t be dense all your life. By all means pick apart when you disagree but simply calling someone stupid adds nothing of value. Apologies I forgot the customary smiley. I’m sure Topper can give me some back if he wishes it really isn’t a problem, especially considering the abuse certain Mods have dished out in the past.

I have to say I'm astonished at how publicly scything Barton is being - especially so early on. Genuinely astonished.
Whether or not he's right is another matter - but when you consider Tisdale effectively got fired for a fair, relatively low-key off-air remark, it's amazing to see Joey throwing everyone under the bus so publicly.
I've honestly no idea what he's hoping to achieve? I know there's a major love-in going on with most on here, but does anyone honestly think throwing just about every player under the bus publicly is somehow going to enhance our chances of survival?
Maybe it's motivating some of you, but I can't imagine for a minute it's motivating many of the players - and results appear to back that up.
If Joey Barton was bought in to save us from relegation, his public outbursts are almost guaranteeing the opposite.
Horrific management from where I'm standing. One thing doing it at the end of the season, but now? It reeks of someone who thinks they're out of the their depth and are doing everything in their power to deflect any blame whatsoever from themselves - ironic as it seems for many on here he's completely blameless no matter what happens.

Very true, one thing we can probably all agree on though is that he certainly isn’t talking about Ehmer, Widdrington or Starnes Is that sarcasm? I think he's at least talking about Ehmer and Widdrington definitely. He actually says at the end of the video on YouTube the club's already got the recruitment team in place, not we need a new recruitment team/scouting network. From what he's saying he's talking solely about the players and this was agreed with Wael/MS 4 to 6 weeks ago. Although it's hardly surprising we need a "reset" on the playing side after the season we've had to undure.

Yeah, his seeming lack of man-management skills has been very surprising, and his decision to do everything so publicly has been a bit bizarre. I don't really understand what he thinks he's hoping to achieve by it.

For me looking at all this, Starnes has to go. If you think back to where we were when Wael first came in - we were a mess. Then Wael tried to improve things and I'm not sure he did, perhaps he trusted too much in DC to almost act as a CEO at times. But either way, you could forgive the naivety as we were pretty much born anew and good things were on the horizon - we were looking up.
Then we brought in Starnes to come in and basically sort out the mistakes we'd made over the past few years and really make us a credible football club. And it worked, for a while. Transfers looked good, we started getting better fees for our top players (not enough though), training ground was on the way and we were investing into a long term strategy.
But since GC left everything good about Rovers literally vanished overnight. With the exception of the training ground, I'd go as far as saying we're in a worse position on and off the pitch than we were when Wael took over. Wael has made many mistake, but ultimately is forgiven for what he does for us, keeping our club alive and investing to try to thrive. Widdrington has made a hash of recruitment, make no doubt about it. But he's had 1 bad year under the guidance of the 2 worst managers in our history and a CEO who have a clue. Is that enough for Widdrington to lose his job? Maybe, but its hard to say from the outside.
Then that brings us onto culprit number 1: Starnes. At the end of the day, he is the CEO of Bristol Rovers Football Club and he has taken us back to the levels of relegation to Non-League. All this has happened in the space of 15 months ffs. The fish rots from the head and there is no way Starnes should have a job come the end of the season.

What he doesn't make clear when talking about that is if it's his recruitment team (in the background), or the clubs recruitment team already in place. He could quite easily be talking about his own network of contacts. I can't imagine he is massively impressed with the the recruitment process that has brought us to the brink of relegation in 21st position and one of the worst goals for and against columns in the division. Previous to that one that has brought us 200k Payne, Reilly, Adeboyejo, Abraham etc etc.

I’m lost as to what he hopes to achieve. It’s a shocking outburst from the manager of a club needing the fighting spirit and togetherness for a relegation battle. We can still do it. What is even worse is he appears to take no responsibility as a manager and puts it all on the players. To quote the great Darrel Clarke: The buck stops with me, the manager.

Sounds to me that The Scouse Jolly Boys Outing are looking to get booted ! Barton thinks he is better at managing than he actually is ! Leading Fleetwood ( which he compares us to in every interview ) to a playoff place is hardly tearing up the football world ! The whole situation at Rovers is a mess and ripping the club and fans apart ! I agree! Not the calming, inspiring stuff you expect of someone looking to steady the ship! I really wouldn’t be surprised to see him walk, he will know his career will be on hold trying to sort this mess out and he strikes me as someone who thinks he can manage at a much higher level. Keeps insulting and blaming everyone and it may not be too long before he’s back oop north looking for a better challenge! Just speaking the truth though surely? Isn't that what we've been doing the last 18 months. And we're not exactly wrong either...

I'm actually glad he's calling them out publicly. Nothing else seems to work.
I stand by what I said after the Swindon final whistle. A disgusting, shameful, embarrassing team of gutless, useless, inept wasters.

Maybe wouldn't use "Cutting the cancer" as probably not the sensitive of phrases, however can't argue that there is something wrong at the club. You must be in denial if you think these players can keep us up now. They have squandered every chance to pick up points, even when 2 nil up.
Go back to GC days, even fans on here were moaning that we weren't very exciting despite being 4th. GC ended up walking for a job closer to home, missing his family, tired of stick he was unfairly receiving.. . Probably from the same people now moaning about Joey Barton. As fans some need to get a grip, if we spent the season in around the playoff we would absolutely be saying it is a good season.
The playing staff, clearly they are not good enough having performed so poorly for most the season. I don't see how it can be argued that this lot are good group of players just we have been so unlucky to hire 3 bad managers, to be fair to the player Ben Garner was terrible.
Off the pitch, TW has got it wrong if he has been solely responsible for bringing the players in. If he is given the chance this summer to redeem himself, I hope he work closer with manager who ultimately picks the 11 to start on a Saturday. Together they should be able identify the areas that need improving.

Brilliantly put , biggest bunch of pricks to ever grace our shirt , actually can’t stand any of them and want the season to end so hopefully the majority can f**k off and never ‘play’ for us again , I don’t like being so negative towards our players but the impression I get from them is , they aren’t good enough and they don’t care less. f**k em all !!

Tisdale had chance to rectify it in Jan, does very little transfer business, then moans about it. Barton hasn't had that luxury yet but will probably be a different story if he is saying the same things come Nov/Dec People keep banging on about the January transfer window, so he didn’t try to get anyone else in besides Williams and Day? Players were queuing up to join Rovers but he said no! Are People forgetting the famous Widderington black book of quality? I’m not having this January transfer window reason to lambast Tisdale and spread blame for what Barton is getting away with now as what is the point in signing worse than you already have? We’ve been there before with desperate signings and paying the price years later. I’m seeing the same with Barton as I did with Tisdale just Barton’s more crude with the excuses. So what your saying is we couldn't attract anyone that is a better striker than Hanlon? If that is the case we as a club are screwed because there must be 100s of better strikers in the lower leagues/fringe championship or premiership players that are better than him and the position we were in someone was desperately needed. Tisdale went after Stockley and got let down and had no backup plan, which says to me he went for someone he knew as he couldn't get or know of anyone else to bring in. I found him a pretty lazy kind of manager who didn't do his homework on the club and players before he came in and as they say fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

It’s the couldn’t care less that’s the biggest problem, we’ve all seen teams that aren’t the most talented achieving way above the sum of their parts. I don’t know what the criteria of TW and BG was when they built this squad but giving a f**k for the cause doesn’t seem like it featured too much!

A disgusting, shameful, embarrassing team of gutless, useless, inept wasters. But is JB referring to the first team players he's picking week in, week out, or the the players like Ehmer he clearly has issues with? The only issue he raised about last night game was the disallowed goal, there was no criticism of any of the players or the term performance generally. I sense posters are living in dreamland thinking Wael's going to dismiss MS and TW just because JB told him to have a clear out. All we'll see this summer is the usual comings and goings on the player front, unless MS decides to retire.
